I want at least 17 teams, but there is no upper limit. SIgn up with a partner. One of you will be the "Canadian", and one of you will be the "American". BOTH OF YOU MUST POST IN THE THREAD TO FINALIZE YOUR ENTRY! One player can post to reserve a spot for your team, but that spot will not be confirmed until the other player posts also.
In order to play the "Canadian" you must post: I love Canada!
In order to play the "American" you must post: I love the U.S.A.!
There are NO actual restrictions on who may enter this tournament. You do not need to be Canadian or American in real life. Playing in this tournament does not obligate you to perform military service in the U.S. or to pay taxes in Canada! All you need is to like one of us well enough to be able to say "I love ___!" without reservation.
Preliminary round:
Spoiler
Teams will be seeded according to their average CC score on the day I make the games. The seeding will "loop around" so teams at the very top will be adjacent to teams at the very bottom. Each team will play 4 sets: 2 sets against the 2 teams above you, and 2 sets against the 2 teams below you in the seeding.
Each set will consist of 3 Doubles games (1 on North America, 1 on U.S.A., 1 on Canada) and 6 1v1 games (1 on North America and 2 on Canada for the Canadian player; 1 on North America and 2 on U.S.A. for the American player.) You will score 1 point for each 1v1 win, and 3 points for every Dubs win.
After the Preliminary round, the top 16 teams will be randomly arranged into a single-elimination bracket.
(Clarifications:
- A. "Top 16 teams" is according to all points earned by both members across all four sets during the Preliminary round.
B. "single-elimination" means losing a set, not losing a single game.
No round limits.
Spoiler
All games Seq. Aut. Chain, No Spoils, Foggy, No Trench
Each set will consist of 3 Doubles games (1 on North America, 1 on First Nations North America, 1 on New World) and 6 1v1 games (1 on Canada, 1 on First Nations North America, 1 on New World for the Canadian player; 1 on U.S.A., 1 on First Nations North America, 1 on New World for the American player.) You will score 1 point for each 1v1 win, and 3 points for every Dubs win.
I'm a bit worried about the First Nations North America map in foggy mode, so there will be a 30-round limit on those. No round limits on the others.
The eight teams who win their set will advance.
Spoiler
All games CC default (Seq. Aut. Esc. Chain. No Fog, No Trench)
Each set will consist of 3 Doubles games (1 on North America, 1 on British Isles, 1 on Iberia) and 6 1v1 games (1 on Canada, 1 on France, 1 on France1789 for the Canadian player; 1 on U.S.A., 1 on Africa II, 1 on Mexico for the American player.) You will score 1 point for each 1v1 win, and 3 points for every Dubs win.
There will be a 30-round limit on the Iberia games. I don't think any of the others would need one.
The four teams who win their set will advance.
