Okay. I have to go to work now. I'll think about this on the road and make an announcement when I get home this afternoon.Night Strike wrote:That's because you're running a private tournament instead of a public one. I don't think I've ever seen anything fill this fast. Dat Fewnix has powerful juju!
Two more spots and then we'll take some reserves.
I'm pretty sure I want this first one to be just 16 players (one square) so I will go with the second option.Dukasaur wrote:Okay. I have to go to work now. All round one games have been joined and have succesfully started.Dukasaur wrote:Round one games have been created and invitations sent out.
Good luck, everyone!
Please feel free to suggest any corrections to the score I "provisionally" give, based on whether or not a player was on a winning or losing team, and whether or not a player missed any turns. As the Duk proceeds to schedule Round 2, he will be the final judge of this and all other matters.Scoring:
3 points for being on a winning team and not missing any turns.
2 points for being on a winning team if you miss one or more turns.
1 point for being on a losing team and not missing any turns.
0 points for being on a losing team and missing one or more turns.
COOL!!!Dukasaur wrote:Well, we have our first finished game.
Round 1: You will form a team with all the players on the same horizontal row as yourself. You will play three Quads games, one against each of the other teams. So, Team A vs. Team B, Team A vs. Team C, Team A vs. Team D, and so on.
Round 2: You will form a team with all the players on the same vertical column as yourself. You will play three Quads games, one against each of the other teams. So, Team 1 vs. Team 2, Team 1 vs. Team 3, Team 1 vs. Team 4, and so on.
After Round 2, the Square will be re-randomized. On the new Square, Round 3 will follow the same procedure as Round 1, and Round 4 will follow the same procedure as Round 2.
Total game load, therefore, is 12 games, in four rounds of 3, probably over a period of six to eight weeks.
Scoring:
3 points for being on a winning team and not missing any turns.
2 points for being on a winning team if you miss one or more turns.
1 point for being on a losing team and not missing any turns.
0 points for being on a losing team and missing one or more turns.

One issue is game load. People have a certain expectation when they sign up for a tournament of how many games at a time they will be playing, and I don't like to overload them. But the second, and much larger issue, unique to this type of tourney, is mind-set. In Round 2 people that were your team-mates in Round 1 will now be your opponents. People will need to reorient their mind between the two.

Highest aggregate score wins. Simple, isn't it? In case of a tie, the win will go to the player who has gained the most actual CC points in the tournament. So, tough-won games against higher-level opponents will carry the potential for an ultimate reward
