What's your opinion of it? Have you tried it? Tested it? Seen it?

Hey great subject idea Bedub1! I have used it, and it sucks. It's horrible. I'll be sticking with Windows 7.

I'm excited for the start-up time optimization. It looks like they're using a kernel now, or so I read, to store certain settings of start-up programs instead of relaunching/reapplying them each time.

I WANT TO SEE IT IN ACTION. Any links?

You can download and install it.

It would be OK if they removed all the Metro crap and kept Aero. I do like the incredibly minor updates they have made to the regular desktop, but Metro just blows.

Still running XP.

Probably not gonna bother with Windows 7, 8 or 1337 till new software doesn't support XP anymore.

I downloaded Windows Plus 1, which when combined with Windows 7 turns it into Windows 8.

My entire system went haywire and I had to buy a new laptop.

Nothing was recoverable, including the video of my infant nephews circumcision.

Do you think I should sue Microsoft for my lost pictures and videos?

I like the optimization it will bring, so if you could combine that with windows 7 I'd be ecstatic.

I saw this video on the youtube where some guy had his father try and use it. The poor old bastard was so confused. He couldn't figure how to go back or get to like a main menu. Honestly, I would probably have a hard time with it as well. Taking the windows button out seems like a really stupid idea. (I'm assuming it's still 86'd.) Other than that, I have no idea what y'all are talking about, what with kernels and shit like that.

This made me chuckle.

Also, don't listen to natty. Bill Gates kicked his puppy when he was 7, and he hasn't recovered. None of us have....:o

Windows 8 is decent. The format is unfamiliar, but at least on my computer, the transition between desktop and metro is seamless, not very buggy, and very easy to customize. And although it's new/unfamiliar, the UI is pretty intuitive and easy to learn.

I LIKE IT SO FAR SO UNF.

No, it's more like Bill Gates is attempting to take away our freedom and we need to fight back.

The truth is, when it comes to computer software we already live in a post-scarcity economy. But the thing is, most people don't know it. Most people are still in the matrix, and it's like we try to feed them the red pills but they're like "oh I know this blue pill makes me really sleepy, it's bad for my teeth and it takes away my boner but every one eats them and I don't want to bother changing my habits".

rdsrds2120 wrote:Windows 8 is decent.

No, "decency" is not a concept you can associate with windows 8. It's entirely void of any decency.

I think I know why we're disagreeing. You're saying it's bad compared to other, different OS's. I'm making my observations comparing it to its predecessor, Windows 7.

Well that's sort of a weird comparison.

I mean, it's like you die and go to hell, and the devil or whatever informs you you have to partake in a shit-eating contest. Participation is mandatory, there's no opting out. Once there, you're given two plates, one has a pile of shit that has been drying in the sun for a few days. The other plate has a slightly smaller pile of shit but this shit is steaming fresh, soggy and probably riddled with disease. You think you can see a few pieces of corn in there.

So, you can make a rational decision or an irrational one, you can compare the respective merits of each shitpile, like if it's better to eat more shit if you don't have to eat it fresh, or if it's better ot eat less shit but it's all fresh and soggy and probably tastes even worse. You can weight the options and make an informed decision, but in the end, no matter which pile of shit are you going to eat, you're still going to end up eating a pile of shit.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never had a shitty experience with Windows. Smooth sailing over here (and is it sweet corn, natty? Please tell me it is).
