Starting a League

Postby wesleymilo on Mon Feb 06, 2012 6:31 pm

[Q&A] How do I start a league? I want to have seasons instead of just a tournament and then it's done. Do I just do that in a tournament format and never finish the tournament? Is there a way to have a separate forum for a league where just the members can access it? Any information about running a smooth league would be appreciated. Thanks.

There currently isn't a setup for the same group of people to have a league (as in a basketball league). However, you can run a sports themed tournament and once it is over, run it again and maybe the same people will join.

If you really want to do a league, with the same people over and over, you can try to set something up in the Callouts section of the Forums. However, I think that would probably be difficult to set up and manage because everyone would have to make their own games and everything. It could get complicated trying to organize it with 30 people all doing that. Honestly, the odds that they will all be around long enough to do the first season of a league is slim, let alone multiple seasons. Every sports tournament I have done has had dropouts in the middle.

One thing that you can do is start a tournament that is multiple seasons. We have GA Medals that can be given for things within a tournament. If there were multiple seasons, you could call the tournament a franchise and speak with DJ Teflon about possibly awarding GA Medals to the winners every season.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may try the recurring tournament thing, but you make a good point about dropouts. Good to know though. Thanks again.

Franchises are old news chap. What he can do is a Tournament Series with a Grand Finale. Then the winners of the the tournaments in the series get normal Tournament Achievement Medals and the winner of the GF gets a GA Medal.

That would be the way to go in my opinion.
