I think I'll wait till phpBB 3.0 comes out because it allows for custom profile fields. I try to avoid hacking the forum software because it makes it harder to apply phpBB upgrades.
I have another suggestion for whenever phpBB 3.0 comes out (or whenever you decide to implement showing the points in the forum).
In the Group Information page, it would be cool if points are shown there, and if you can sort by it. Lets you see who's got the most points in a group, and it's an easy way to see the dynamic ranking as we play. Personally, the global ranking is cool. But I think some people would find local (group) ranking to be benefitual also.
I don't know if anybody else does this, but when I see a post of
1."join my game 35209385" or
2."doubles partner needed"
3. "RT now!!!!!!!!!"
and pretty much all posts in the Callout category, the first thing I do after reading the post I click the persons profile to see their rank. So, instead of just displaying when the person joined, their number of posts, and their location under their image, would it be possible to include their Rank?

Top Score:2896 5.13.08 Highest Place: 48 Title: Top Terminator (Won LB’s Terminator Tourney)
The point is to avoid having to click and do all that. You really want to copy the link, click "join a game", game finder, then paste the link in to find out whether you want to join or not? Efficiency.
Also, since users rank changes often, that may cause more work to do it, so it could just be stamped with the rank at the time of the post.

hector just doesn't want people to know that he is a lowly Sergeant
quit posting on forums, and get to playing
Ya, I'm only in 25 games right now. I need to make a few more. But ya, shush about the Sargent thing okay… (I was a private when I started today, but I got over 100 points in this one game )
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

Show rank, points, games played under your name in the forum posts

Suggestion Idea: I was thinking it would be nice if there was a rank icon reflected in our posts. When you mouseover the icon, it will show your current scorepoints. Below it will be number of games played.
Why it is needed: When people are reading the posts, at the same time they can know the scorepoints, rank info too.

* Suggestion Idea: I propose that one of the options on the Game Finder should be to search games by the ranks of current players.
* Specifics: Add the option to search for games with players who have reached a minimum rank or by the average rank of players in a game. This could also include an secondary option to search for only games with a minimum number of players. (e.g. I want to see results for 4-player games with 2 majors and a lieutenant, not just with 1 captain.)
* Why it is needed: I really enjoy playing standard games but a lot of them are populated by new/low ranking players. As I understand it, a lot of private and team games go on between higher-ranking players but that involves lots of forum/clan participation and I think we can make a fast-track to avoid that for players interested in just playing the game. The idea to create rank restrictions has already been rejected, so can we at least make it easier to sort through standard games that are full of cooks or empty slots? This would also be made a whole lot easier by the already-proposed sorting option for the Game Finder.
