@trini: its definitely possible. I believe Jonty used a similar strategy in Futurama Mafia (though the idea thetre may have been to try to get the inventor to use his one investigation on the mafia godfather. Pseudoclearing him while making it harder for townies to confirm their innocence).

e) town watcher - in this particular game, watch the doctor. This will either prevent scum from killing the doctor or at least give us insurance that we will lynch the doctor's killer the next day.

f) Town Bus Driver, switching the doctor with someone that appears scummy is helpful as well. Or switch youself with someone scummy for self preservation

guys, being noob (swifte, i have to confess i m a medal whore too lol) as well can you explain me 2 things: what makes you claim your real role? just the fact that if someone else claims the same role you are busted as a liar so it s very complicated to say something false?
also you were asking if mafia could fakeclaim, meaning? in some games they can claim a fake role and in others they can t?
basically there are several vanilla townies, so the easiest to claim would be vanilla townie cause you have very little chances to get busted?
Also, question for the experienced players; is it a good move by swifte to claim he's the doc (which i beleive)? I mean he was close to an elimination, so claiming VT might not have saved him because it s the easiest call?

Lynch all liars doesn't apply as often as one would think. In this case the role is major enough that people would have probably bought a name claim by itself but unless you are very confident that it will be accepted always claim fully.

Doctor is one of the few roles that get instant trust upon claiming, unless there's a counterclaim. Risking that trust by claiming something less important could backfire horrendously, so claiming doctor is the right thing to do, yes.

ok so the role fits.... a little from wikipedia

Doctor Finklestein is a resident of Halloween Town, the wheelchair-bound mad scientist and the "father" of Sally. He is a pale-as-a-sheet mad scientist with a duckbill-like mouth and a hinged skullcap that he can open up to reveal his brain. For unknown reasons he uses a motorized wheelchair (early drawings of Finklestein depict him standing freely, and his original action figure followed this example, implying he was not always intended to be a wheelchair user). Finklestein is only referred to as the 'Evil Scientist' in the credits. His true name is only mentioned in the movie when the Mayor calls him up to the front of the line for his Christmas assignment.

Doctor Finklestein lives in a large observatory with his living ragdoll creation, Sally,[16] and his hunchbacked assistant Igor. James Whale's Frankenstein is quoted in Finklestein's line "I made you with my own hands", which is ironic as Finklestein's body appears to be largely if not entirely artificial. Unlike Frankenstein, who takes no responsibility for his creations and disowns them almost as soon as they are completed (much like the original Dr. Frankenstein), Finklestein takes full responsibility over Sally and acts as an over-protective father, and in some ways an overbearing husband (thus explaining Sally's attempts to run away) by keeping her under lock and key under the pretext of sheltering her from the world. In addition to being an overbearing and antagonistic father figure for Sally to overcome, Finklestein also has a hand in helping Jack Skellington (of whom he seems to be very fond) with his plan to take over Christmas by bringing to life several skeletal reindeer to pull Jack's sleigh. At the end of the film, Finklestein, deciding that Sally is too much of a handful, creates a wife for himself using a portion of his own brain.

given that review I'd put him at town and Doctor makes sense as well... what i watched of the movie fits with this also.

just wonder if the half brain thing given to his new wife at the end could be used here... doctor+lover/mason seems quite unballanced?
or what can be the role of sally in our game, as she's so linked with frinkelstein... but also jack. just wondering if there could be anything neutral/third party with a doc, because its caracter is not really a positive one in the movie..

where we go from here - well we don't want to kill the town doctor for sure... so the next step ideally would be to find someone who is scummy and lynch,.. that as I am sure you realise will be difficult. in your case the biggest problem is that a VT claim is an easy mafia fakeclaim... so it is also immediately viewed with suspicion...there are no solid cases really to go on so far.

I think if a lynch is gonna happen here were the cases

1) Betiko - Weak Case
2) Me - Weak Case, but not as weak as the case on Betiko
3) swifte - Doc - Done with, no case

So with 2 days left, its pretty much me or no one.

It sucks for me, but a D1 lynch is necessary to provide at the very least 1 confirmed role.

Some people may not agree with me, but the lynch has to be me if anyone.

I've never seen someone push for his own lynch before. I also don't see how lynching a VT gives us information. I understand the reasoning of those voting for you (easy fakeclaim, not much risk), but don't get why you think it would help the town.
