well if your looking for variations in font i always liked old english.Arial is the best plain font to use as it is the best to read.koontz1973 wrote:Trees have now been placed into both versions from the small.Sniper08 wrote:ok is it me or does the trees in the small version look better than the large version.bushes look better.
also not sure about the different fonts in the legend. i think the font for the left is a bit hard to read.
The legend font may not be to everyone's taste but I think it suits the map the best of what I have tried. Next time you are looking at your fonts in whatever programme you use for typing, try a few and let me know the fonts you like. Can always have a go.

In what way?natty_dread wrote:Ok, what's with the bushes now? Sorry but it doesn't work.

The missing word, just need to increase the layer size to bring it back. Thanks for noticing.cairnswk wrote:Thanks koontz1973 for doing those changes, Those are the sort of things that usually come up in Final Forge but have been critiqued for many years since i started mapmaking 4 years ago. They are the sort of things that make the different between an OK map and a very professional one, so do keep them in mind if you make another map.
I like the space you've given the Imapssables,
...but now the IButhos are almost completely lost that even on the large map i almost cannot read the white text because it is so small. There is sufficient space to move that border beside the Impassables across to the right and take up some of the Lindelani and Buyisiwe territories...which might help fit things in there better in the legend.
Also, i have issues with the font on the small map, because all the kerning seems uneven and squashed. I am sure however from reading above you have things in DaFont underway.
On the large map, the bottom of the text at the bottom near Chieftan is missing the word bonus. That text also needs to be examined for kerning. If you examine the space between "incl uded" in that last line you'll see what i speak of.

Well, it looks like you took a paintbrush and doodled them full of worm-like scribbles... for some reason.koontz1973 wrote:In what way?natty_dread wrote:Ok, what's with the bushes now? Sorry but it doesn't work.

Hope you all like these ones as this is what you will get to play on.natty_dread wrote:Well, it looks like you took a paintbrush and doodled them full of worm-like scribbles... for some reason.koontz1973 wrote:In what way?natty_dread wrote:Ok, what's with the bushes now? Sorry but it doesn't work.
When I said to add another colour in the bush texture, I didn't mean for you to randomly doodle it all over them... I rather meant incorporating another colour as a part of the texture itself. So that you have dark, midtone and bright there, not just midtone and bright. This would add contrast to them and make them look more natural.
Have tried lots of colours. This one seems to fit the best for a couple of reasons. Red being the universal danger colour, blood is red (could be made a tad darker) and the CB test. This is the one that stood out most in all of the iButhos. Suggest a colour and I can whip up a mock for you to look at.gimil wrote:The red line around the British front line isn't a colour that complements this map very well. red is the perfect colour for the 150 yard line.its a primary colour which goes with the greens and blues and as koonitz said its the universal colour for danger so i wouldnt want it changed.gimil wrote:The red line around the British front line isn't a colour that complements this map very well. I am well aware that red is universal for danger, and I understand why it has been used. But I do feel that it doesn't fit this map. It is overly saturated compared to the more washed out colours of the rest of the map.Sniper08 wrote:red is the perfect colour for the 150 yard line.its a primary colour which goes with the greens and blues and as koonitz said its the universal colour for danger so i wouldnt want it changed.

Will post a few variations for you to look at. Give me an hour to get it done and let me know what you think.gimil wrote:I am well aware that red is universal for danger, and I understand why it has been used. Will run up the next draft with 4. The 5 was just a joke one. It does need to be solid.gimil wrote:4 and 5 are much better shades in my opinion. The dotted line may actually work really well if you go with something sharper like your other borders. (right now they are a little to blurry).

Fair play, I did like the pok-a-dots though.koontz1973 wrote:Will run up the next draft with 4. The 5 was just a joke one. Thanks, any feedback is good feedback.gimil wrote:The new lines are a winner I think. I shall come back later and have another look.
Did not use as I was not sure if this site trusted it. This one is in the official tools.natty_dread wrote:You know, you can use GIMP's own colourblind filters instead of that crappy site that only shows tiny pictures...
They're in View > Display filters.
