I feel like you should expand on this, and write an investigative piece for the CC Dispatch newsletter.Mustapha Mond wrote:Fortunately, we're talking HTML here, and there ARE standards, and there IS a right answer:
Cyan = #00FFFF
Teal = #008080
CC uses #0CC, which expands to #00CCCC
So technically, it's not actually cyan, but it's a bit closer to cyan (51 increments of luminosity) than it is to teal (76 increments).
And, oh yeah, what CC calls "silver" definitely isn't. Silver is #C0C0C0, but CC uses #7F7F7F, which is just one increment away from #808080, "gray", but 65 increments from proper "silver". And "slate gray" is #708090, giving it a slight blue-ish hue (like actual slate).
While we're at it, CC "green" (#009a04) isn't really green (#008000).
No freaking wonder everyone's confused!
And that's why all the local boys liked her so much.
Good point, we can use this as the subject for the "who should the next petty C&A report be filed against?" contest winner.BoganGod wrote: Oh goody, can you just imagine the new rash of spurious claims in C&A over this. The accused are suspected of calling the colour teal and I had already and most importantly firstly called that colour cyan. C&A would be issuing bans on mentioning the colour which shalt not be named. The horror, and amusement in it all would be saccharine sweetness with a bitter twist.

Luminosity is a balanced function of red/green/blue which is based on perceptual brightness values of each channel. Luminosity of 00FFFF can be calculated as (0 * 0,30) + (255 * 0,59) + (255 * 0,11) = 178,5. While Luminosity of 008080 is correspondingly 89,6, and 00CCCC is 142,8.Mustapha Mond wrote:51 increments of luminosity

I thought aardvarks were brown.
When I am playing a game, I usually find myself falling into using only colors to refer to opponents, even if I am familiar with the opponents.zimmah wrote:just call people by their names, problem solved.
