I can confirm that California has some strange names for places.cairnswk wrote:Thanks enders516. i luv it when one learns something cool everyday.ender516 wrote:Check Wikipedia for "Inland Empire" and "Zzyzx". They are real names used in the areas.

Yeah we tried this earlier on, couldn't really get it to work out though.Victor Sullivan wrote:I feel like he tried this at one point, but I forget...Bruceswar wrote:You need a title like this... At least in that block letter style.

I don't know man, I can't have them match up exactly. I think they look fine.Victor Sullivan wrote:The new color for the Central Valley text isn't quite working for me... Perhaps go with a darker Bay Area text (since - at least to me - the land area looks more to me like a brown than an orange), then a more orange cast to the original text color? I feel like that would make it look more like the color of the land area.

Honestly, I have know idea why I hadn't thought of that before.natty_dread wrote:What you should do is replace the white glow of the bonus names with a shadow similar to the territory names. Then you can make the colours match.
No I'm not really adding territories or changing where they attack at this point. However I'm not opposed to changing the name "Channel Islands" to "The Catalinas" If that is appropriate. It does have a much nicer ring to it.Vlasov wrote:I wonder if you could add Santa Catalina Island to the "Channel Islands" territory. It lies farther southeast of the other three islands along the coast, but it has a town (Avalon) and is a major tourist site. The northern islands are a National Park, and are basically uninhabited.
In fact, many Californians refer to that little archipelago as "the Catalinas", and "going to Catalina" means taking the one-hour ferry trip to Avalon. The boats depart from five ports in LA and Orange Counties. To reflect that, you could make an additional (dotted) sea connection within "Channel Islands" to Santa Catalina, and thence to the territory of "Santa Ana" -- but I suppose that might affect the gameplay a little...
Another uninhabited chunk of rock, San Clemente Island, lies even farther south (and actually west of northern San Diego County)... but it would be too much, to connect that far. Just some idle thoughts. I can't wait to play this map!
Probably because you're not as smart as me.The Bison King wrote:Honestly, I have know idea why I hadn't thought of that before.

I agree. The current order might be argued to follow the left-right, top-bottom rules, depending on how you draw a line across the map, but I think pamoa's order is a bit cleaner with less bouncing around.pamoa wrote:about your bonus legend and the name order
in a list I always recommend to respect the left-right top-bottom reading order
in your case this would mean
Northern Coast
Northern Cali
Bay Area
Central Valley
Sierra Nevada
Central Coast
Los Angeles
Mojave Desert
Thanks for attending to those. The Bison King wrote:Ok when I said "big changes" I more meant a lot of little changes. The ones mentioned above mostly by Cairns
