The funny thing is that the news story I read had a bunch of quotes from people saying things like "This isn't us, this doesn't represent our city, blah blah blah." And, y'know, I would totally understand that... if the exact same thing hadn't happened the last time the 'nucks lost in the stanley cup finals.

Philadelphia, which is generally seen as a city full of boorish, rude, obnoxious, and evil sports fans, has not had a sports-related riot in recent memory. Fucking espn... SHUT UP! SO WE THREW SNOWBALLS AT SANTA CLAUS IN THE 1960S? SO WE THREW BATTERIES AT JD DREW IN THE EARLY 1990S? SO WHAT? LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE!!!

Apparently former Mayor and former Governor Ed Rendell was one of the snowball throwers.
I am a regular at Phillies games and an irregular attendee of Eagles games. I have never seen a bad incident that was nationally reported.

Didn't a bunch of Eagles fans recently (like 2007 or something) harass or beat up a kid, like kid kid under 10, for wearing an Eli Manning jersey?
Facebook used to be a place to keep in touch with friends, etc. Now it's a place for finks and police informants to ply their craft. With new facial recognition tagging, soon the cops won't even need sycophants to fink to them, they'll just be able to scan a picture from the riots and let Facebook's computers pop-out an ID, plus a list of the person's friends, their religious preference, political identity, hobbies, address, where they've been to recently, etc.
CBC wrote:A Facebook campaign that aimed to identify rioters and looters had attracted almost 20,000 people in less than 12 hours.Witnesses were encouraged to post pictures of rioters in the act, in the hopes that they might be recognized and identified.

Not that I know of.
The latest incidents involved Phillies games. A drunk guy made himself vomit on a 10 year old girl... whose father is a police officer. The other incident involved someone running onto the field and being tasered.
I've seen fights in the stands, especially back when the Phillies were playing in the Vet, the team was horrendous, and it cost like $4 to get a ticket. In the parking lot of an Eagles game, two elementary school age children were screaming obscenities at a Redskins fan.
