Oh dear, where to begin. At the beginning I guess.

You don't agree with Dug's actions when it came to paying off players to throw a game. Good, we can agree about that then. Dug's actions led to a lengthy and dispassionate investigation the results of which confirmed the substance of the allegation and he was banned from the forums and PM's for four months. He was free to continue playing games, all he was constrained from doing was posting in the forums and using PM's, presumably on the basis that he used the PM's in furtherance of his conspiracy to bribe a player to throw a game. As far as I know that was the extent of his punishment. So he was not stripped of everything. About the only thing he was stripped of was the ability to continue conspiring to pay off players to throw a game. One aspect of a punishment is to help prevent the crime from taking place again. So if the mods "shut him down" they shut him down from conspiring to bribe other players to throw games. To which I say: thank you mods. Seems logical to me and not the least bit emotional.

Then Mr. Dug launched his jihad against the site. He announced in the forum his intention to give away his points as a "protest." To do this he created fraudulent games in which to carry out his "protest." In other words, unable to bribe players to throw games for him, he proceeded to throw games himself. That alone would have been enough for me to ban him right there, right then. But he went even beyond that.

He created many doubles games in which he partnered with an innocent player. The purpose of the game for Dug was to give his and his partner's points to the other team consisting of his cronies. It's hard for me to imagine a more destructive act toward the integrity of the game. It violates rules of the CC site since it's effectively a secret alliance. It makes a mockery of the game. It's so far from anyone's notion of sportsmanship that it feels funny even bringing that quaint notion up. When it was discovered he was doing this, those games which were essentially fraudulent were canceled. It was pretty clear from his statements that Dug had every intention of continuing to pursue this "protest." So Dug was banned to prevent this kind of fraud from going any further. It was an entirely justified action. I don't know what the alternative would have been.

If I arrive home and I find a burglar taking my belongings out of my house, I'm not going to conduct a 4-day investigation, and I'm not going to send him to my bedroom for a time-out. I don't know, call me rash, but that just ain't happening.

If after reflection you and your friends who are saddened truly think that what Dug was doing with his point give-away scam was OK, then as far as I'm concerned you can follow Dug out the door -- it's that away (*points*) and don't let it hit you on your way out.

Yes, Dug was taken away from out community. Yes, he was shut down. And you know what? I know I'll sleep better tonight because of it.

As for silencing Dug, LOL, I think I've heard more than enough from Dug in the last few days thanks to his friends posting his every utterance made in game chat. If ever a man would be better served by silence than Dug I haven't met him. His statements remove any doubt as to his intentions. The man has hanged himself with his own admissions. If he hadn't been so vociferous about what he was gong to do it's not all clear to me that he would have been caught. He was essentially begging to be banned and ultimately he got what he wanted.

The bottom line is that money was paid for a service to his account. As far as Im concerned, whether moral or not, those are his points to do what he wishes with. I have no benefit whatsoever by taking his side. Its a matter of principal. He earned his points fair, his account is credited for another year and a half, and people get to talk sh*t all day long about him while he cant defend himself. Great system. Im sick of seeing all the friends I have come to know on here leave. Thats my motivation for my posts on this subject. Last time I checked, dumping points isnt illegal( not moral and illegal are two diff. things) last time I checked, if a service isnt rendered in full, then the remanding money must be refunded, as there is no clause to support the forfeit of his funds, even if they came from another player!

Stick that in your hash pipe and smoke it.

The only two Mods that I give credit to are Andy and FP. I used to love this site, but when people are kicked off just like that, it makes me wonder who will be next and for what. There are no boundaries or checks/balances, just the discretion of the mods....... :shock:

when i gave him prem he already had it. and, when i give something to someone i don't want it back. it is his to do with as he pleases.

if i wake up one morning and decide i hate CC & everyone in it can i get 105+ times 20.00 back. do the math.

Lack would probably have a heart attack to say the least.

if he wants the money back he should get it. but, like i've said before. everyone makes mistakes & i think he was baited and took the hook.

poor judgement yes. being banned no. he loves this game like others here do.
so, just let him play.

get rid of the flaming page & maybe that will curb the bad behavior of all the CCers.

we do have young members here & it only creates for bad behavior.

I disagree fullheartedly with this post. First off, how can you agrue he deserves $20 when he never paid any? Also, I agree that they are his points, and he can do what he wants from them, but he started doubles games with an unknowing partner and essentially took his points, also. That is wrong, and should be, and was, punished.

There shouldn't be any refunds!! Paying for a membership doesn't give ANYONE the right to trash a site, get banned and then ask for a refund.

Reading Dug's thing I have come to realize two things.

1.) He cannot communicate very well because he lacks the ability to spell even the simplest of words..... (I.e. he spells the word "any" as "ant"), which I believe takes away from what little argument he has.

2.) He puts his own twist on what has happened in an attempt to attack the integrity of CC. From an objective standpoint I believe and support what the CC administration did. I just don’t find Dug's "twist" on things believable. He Dug himself into a hole, and instead of apologizing or admitting to a mistake, he continued to be himself. This again, hurt what little argument he had.

Sorry that was ambiguous, as an objective standpoint, all I meant was one that does not dislike dug because I have never had a chance to talk to him before nor to play him nor meet him. Thus, my own personal bias about his character was not coming into play.

Your right, He did not necessarily put a twist on the argument. What I meant by twist, is that he chooses to attack the mods and lack in order to make himself look better, rather than sticking to his main points. If he wanted to make this site a better place because their needs to be many improvements, why does he chose to insult and play the role of the jerk. In my experience, people do not respond to that kind of behavior. Thus, if this all was really a crusade to point out CC's flaws (about the scoring system, etc.) then why did he go about it in the way that he did? Doesn't make sense to me.

And I disagree that he feels this is his site.

I think the mods are doing a good job, especially wicked, and this site is only just a little over a year old, and continually improving.

No body knew what the mods would decide what to do.

I could care less either way.

Now dug needs to stop crying and accept what has come down according to his actions.

He doesn't even see what he did was wrong.

and others incouraging his behavior doesn't help.

also roger dodger with all respect, you have to put yourself in Capt position, imagine recieving a pm that says "what do i have to do to get you to......"

he wasn't baited believe me, Capt was in shock and disbelief when he recieved the messages. He was laughing and thought it was a joke at first, and then out of curiosity wanted to see what dug would offer. He is good friends with blitz and immediatly told him what was going on. Capt should have immediatly notified a mod... but he didn't know what to do.

If you got a pm like that wouldn't you want to know just how far dug would go? he didn't negotiate with him, if it was me, that got those pm's ya, you could say bait.. cause I would have really fucked with him.

but all Capt said was, are you joking

and I'll have to think about it.

and that was cause he wasn't even sure what to do about the situation.

I think the reason why this situation is blown out of proportion is because everyone picks a side and lets people know how they feel, but neither side is really listening to one another.

I personally do not agree with Dug. However, I see why he is upset.

He thinks that he only said he was going to do something wrong but he never went through with it. Why be punished for speech alone? is something Dug argues. This is a very good point. Also Dug's personality isn't the cleanest.... (Yeah, cleanest is a nice neutral word) People were probably fed up with him before this incident ever happened and use this when picking sides, which creates an unfair bias to what actually happened.

On the other side.
It was believed that Dug would have gone through with these action if given the opportunity. Would you rather the crime be stopped before it happened or after? Dug was probably going to play under someone else’s name. If this is not enough evidence, he was convicted of bribing another player for the chance to cheat. But still he was not ejected. His response to the temporary restrictions was to start a bunch of games and throw them. I do not blame him for that decision, he was obviously upset. However, his lack of consideration of the unknowing doubles partner that he would pair up with was probably the main reason he had to be stopped.

I agree with the later argument for those reasons. But i do see where Dug is coming from. I just don’t agree with how he is handling the situation, nor the fact he was in this position in the first place.

who really cares. I am addicted to this site as much or more than any other. I have met alot of new friends who I enjoy conversating with and playing against. As i sit here sifting through post after post of bribes, espianoge, murder, cold war conspiracies, and other crimes against humanity, I am left questioning whether this is still a game consisting of shitty dice, or has it evolved into a life changing part of our daily routines. I love it here, but if it were to disappear tomorrow, I believe life would go on and I would somehow make it. :roll:
