Find Tournament in Game finder [WTF!]

Post by Qwert »

ok,guys these is not funny, why the hell not create something simple, like i suggest, and create something who its even more complicated??? Who create these mess now in Game finder??
When i present mine sugestion how to solve these problem, moderators say "lack dont have developer to implement these" but now ,instead to implement mine sugestion who its far-far better then these new implementation, who are even more worst, because if you dont know exactly name of tournament,he will give you all games what have partial name .
I write 'QWERT" and i get insane result-5000 games??
Why to be simple, when can be complicated. Mine sugestion can solve these problem, but instead that, people want to experiment, and create these ridiculos situation, where every player(expecialy if play in 10-15 tournament) need to know exactly name of tournament, othervise he will get totaly wrong results.
Great update, just keep ignoring other people sugestions, and you will manage to create more mess, then to create simple and easy for use. =D>
WTF its purpose of sugestions who are moved to submited,if lack just igore these?

Type in your partial title, and then enter the status of ongoing.
After that look to the left and click 'find games'

well instead to have 2 click with mouse, now you need to click 3 time with mouse to get result. And for game finder, these become pointles for use.
What to say,great achivement.

I think when searching for a tourney you should be able to choose active as a setting and be able to use game finder the way it used to be. At least the old way you were able to use the keyboard to jump you to the starting letters of the tourney

I agree--I do not like the update :(

It would be fine if they would allow regular expressions in the search string

Allowing regular expressions in the search string would make it way more useful.

Don't like it too much either, but regular expressions are not that intuitive. An autocomplete-thingy after you typed 2 characters would be nice though, maybe it even doesn't have to go to the server (though I think it should).
Why would anyone want a partial match on different tournaments anyway? That's a rare usecase.

And I am impressed that Lack made the dice stats work without too much of a slowdown of the site. A good way to shut up most dice complainers.

Autocomplete can be easily done with static data as well - just print a JSON array somewhere and that's all - like 30 minutes of work.

Also, now it is impossible to search for tournaments like "TLO 2009" because the result shows both "TLO 2009" and "TLO 2009 II".

I really don't see the extensive troubles people seem to be having #-o

The point of the update was to get rid of the long list as well as to only have to type in a partial name in order to find your tournament games. The second part doesn't work because there are so many tournaments that share partial names that the games listed become unwieldy. And you can't just check the Ongoing box as that checks for ongoing games, not ongoing tournaments, meaning it's useless for recording finished games.

What if I want to search only the games I have participated in? Or played with my partner?

I'm summarized some of the major issues, concerns, and suggestions regarding the Find a Tournament Update. We'll be looking these over.

Yeah, agreed. I hadn't really looked at the tournament finder, but it is only useful in some cases. Mostly for historical data.
But:

As an organiser, I'd like to see whether games since last time I checked were finished in my tournament.
As an organiser, I'd like to see whether there are any games waiting for players in my tournament.

As a player, I'd like to check out future opponents, which games they won/lost.
As a player, I'd like to see how many points I have or current opponents have (if it's point-based).

Those are the cases in which I used the game finder, and they became harder (though not impossible) with the current setup.

True, and what Nights mentioning as well. Yours is a bit easier to find since you're only in the 1 tlo for 2009, but Nights more holistic second example(issue) is more difficult. However, it isn't completely impossible to solve if you can correctly use a combination of the game and tournament finder, whereas before this update that was even more difficult...

Sherk's point seem to be the most difficult, and I guess where knowing the whole name of a tournament is most important?

Ahoy Everyone,

Can we compile a list of examples of Tournaments that have been difficult to find/deal with because of this new update? That'll allow us to look into a few things better.

Andy just tell lack to change it back to the old system until qwerts suggestion can be implemented.his suggestion is pretty much perfect for TO's to host tournaments.he even created a pic in the thread to point lack in the right direction.viewtopic.php?f=535&t=128086

this update is bad ,i just tried to enter Sniper's 1v1 iwo jima and it kept saying No matching games found. i had to copy and paste the title in the thread to the one in game finder to get the game numbers it just annoying now. i wont be starting another tournament until this is fixed as it makes it very difficult for TO's to organise tournaments now.
