Hey guys, it's that time again. My first tournament (Bignick's Pool Party) was a large success, but I know it could have been better, and I know that starts with me. Now that I know how to run a tournament, I wanna try again. Let's make the Pool Party 2.0 BIGGER AND BETTER! I promise to keep my Tournament Organizer files more up to date than the last time, and this tournament will be running more smoothly than the last one.
show: What I Need
192 of the most dedicated players on Conquer Club At least 2 of 4 open slots for Freemium Players Dislaimer: You must have 10 or more completed games under your belt, and an 80% or higher turns taken ratio. Deadbeating will not be tolerated.
show: First Round - Pool Play
After the 192 players are sorted into their 8 pools, I will begin the āPool Playā Round. That is, you will play 23 games (hopefully 2 at a time) within your pool, so that you play everyone once. I will post standings as often as I can, and weāll go from there. Narrowing down to 8 pools allows me to optimize map selection, and also allows for more games. More games means that a tie is less likely. In the event that there is a tie, the rules go as follows: All tied pool members will play in one sudden death Tiebreak Matchup, with escalating cards, and the winner of that is ranked above the losers in order that they were eliminated. That is, if itās a 4 person game for the #1 seed in a bracket, the winner gets #1, the last one eliminated gets #2, and the first eliminated gets #4.
show: Second Round - Bracket Play
The Top 64 records from pool play will play for the Tournament medal, and the remaining 128 wll play an alternate bracket for a GA medal (pending approvalāno guarantees!). There is one catch, however. If you are one of the top FOUR ranked seeds in your pool, regardless of record, you will be guaranteed a spot in the winnerās bracket. I donāt imagine that you can qualify for the top 4 in your pool without a top 64 record, but I suppose it could happen. Either way, the top 4 will receive automatic bids into the tournament. The remaining 32 players will be based on pool play record, and ties for players with the same record will be decided by me unless it is for one of the last spots (i.e., a three way tie for spots #63, #64, #65). As mentioned previously, tiebreaks are not whether you win or lose, but what ORDER you win or lose in
show: Bracket Finals
The finals of the winnerās bracket will be a best 2-out-of-3 on a map NOT already used in this tournament. If the tournament goes to a third game, the map selection will be RANDOM. The consolation bracket will follow suit, but not only will the map selection be random, but instead of no spoils, it will be ESCALATING.
show: ULTIMATE FINALS
Upon the completion of both brackets, the winner of the winnerās bracket and the winner of the consolation bracket will FACE OFF! In the ULTIMATE FINALS, the winnerās bracket winner must win one game to get the crown; the consolation bracket winner must win twice against the WB winner. The winner of that sudden death is the TOURNAMENT CHAMPION!
show: Tournament Format
All Pool Games will be Sequential, Auto, No Fog, Chained, No Spoils games. All Tiebreak games will be Standard Freestyle (only if it is a 3 person game or more), Auto, Fog, Escalating, Chained games. Winner's Bracket: Sequential, Auto, Fog, Chained, No Spoils. Runner Up Bracket: Sequential, Auto, Chained, No Fog, No Spoils.
show: Maps
The Pool Maps have been released!!! 1. World 2.1 2. USA. 3. Classic 4. Age of Realms 2 5. Arms Race 6. Feudal War 7. Jamaica 8. WWII Poland
Everything will be kept track of: Standings, Seedings, etc. and I will do my best to make sure you all know where you stand by publishing them in a running post on here.
show: ATTENTION FREEMIUMS
Freemiums are more than welcome here. You have 72 hours to join once you receive the invite, otherwise you will forfeit your game , or if it the first game, you will be replaced unless you PM me admitting that you will be able to make the second pool game; then you will just take the L. NO REPLACEMENTS FOR FREEMIUMS IN SINGLE ELIMINATION PLAY. You can't make it? Tell me before hand when you expect to be free, and I'll delay your game if at all possible (don't expect this for later rounds--keep a spot open!). You work with me, I'll work with you.
show: Potential Medals and Awards
Here are the medals that I am looking into for the tournament (medals in italics have NOT been approved) Tournament WinnerConsolation Bracket Winner Lowest Original Seed To Make Winner's Bracket Best Record in Pool Play (after tiebreaks) The following are some random awards (not medals) I thought I'd include: First Fallen(given to the first casualty of the tournament): VX (given to the first pool member to record five wins): The 19 Win Club (for every member who gets 19 wins or more in pool play):
Good luck, and Happy Conquering!
