I noticed we had some discerning palates among us and was curious. I know its been done, but I wanted to give more general terms and see the results. As I'm not truly a liquor drinker, or at least I don't remember much about those days, I've left them out for the purposes of this poll.
My personal choice is ale. I had to develop a taste for lagers and stouts over time, but ales have always had a smooth taste that I enjoy.
Stout or lager for me. I drink Guinness most nights. But I love Yuengling Lager. I also enjoy Yuenglings Black & Tan. I sometimes enjoy making my own Black & Tan with Guinness Draught and Bass
"You know what they say about Love and War...." "Yeah, one involves a lot of physical and psychological pain, and the other one's War."

Ah, I like cider too. My first experience with it I wasn't exactly sure it was alcoholic. Lots of non alcoholic apple cider around these parts. So a good friend and I had quite the surprise as the buzz hit. We spent a good part of that afternoon happily watching the goings and comings of the Renaissance Festival. Quite a few trips back to get more cider as well

Apple Cider = Delicious
If it's nonalcoholic, just spike it with something interesting. Bonus points if your friend does it for you and you have to guess what drug it is!
While its nice to see cider so well represented, I'm sure there aren't that many westcountry boys here, and there are only 2 types of people who drink cider. Westcountry folk...and chavs...
And apple cider is just cider (sorry, 1 of my many irrational bugbears, like people who call pasties 'cornish pasties' I think I need to get out more.)
I prefer this thread to the ones asking for favourite brands of lager, beer, etc, because if I'm perfectly honest, I can barely tell the difference between different brands. I wonder if I'd get pilloried for this, but though I can tell lager from ale and cider etc., I'm damned if I can distinguish Grolsch from Carling Black Label. Mind, I've had my fair share of alcohol consumption, so it isn't lack of experience.
I picked red wine in the above. I used to drink exclusively bitter & stout, but I've changed to lager, dry cider and wine. I've no rational reason to offer why, but there it is.
Thanks It's been interesting. I have to say I'm surprised by Lager being so high (I guess I shouldn't have been), and cider, champaign, and red wine as well. All good drinks though.
I'm into white wine, probably more than is healthy for any man.
But I also like a cold, crisp ale after a hard day's work... which isn't as often as I like to think lol.
