I like the idea but I'm not sure about the numbers either. Only 3 organizers and 1 winner would currently get the gold medal. This is a very high threshold.

I'd think something like Bronze 1-10, Silver 11-25, and Gold 26+ would be better. That would give 24 Organizers and 13 Winners the gold medal. Still a high target but not impossible.

Although the way most of the medals are set up I would think Bronze 1-5, Silver 6-10, and Gold 11+ would make more sense.

The goal of these medals will be to get more people playing tournaments and more people organizing tournaments. But to have to organize 100 tournaments to get a gold is nearly impossible.

I like the idea, but I assume that a silver would just swap out onto the bronze instead of clogging up the medals page with both of them. Know what I mean?

The only problem is is that if this gets implemented, it breaks the general 'rule of 30' that seems to be around the site. Would Cartographers have to impose a new map system? GA & GC medals?

Just something that should be considered.

I also think there should only be one medal showing. So if you've run 100 tournaments, it should just be a gold medal with a 100 on it, other medals only show one icon at a time (including tourneys right now)

and i don't think maps/ga/gc matter for now. I think cairns has made the most maps, and he's at 25ish, I don't think anyone has the full 30

I would prefer to not see a fixed amount, but rather a number over top.

Similar to maps, I'd like to see a number printed over top the image. Then you don't have to worry about an upper limit.

That would only give out 8 golds for Organizers and 2 for Winners. Leave some room for the ultra tough medals when diamond and platinum medals come out.

To be honest, if there's a change, this would be the best way to go. But I don't think it can be done under the current system.

In games, the 3 medal colors are to denote your level of play on the site. All the achievement and contribution medals are designed to recognize you for each accomplishment individually, up to a max of 30. I really don't want to get rid of these individual acknowledgments by generalizing them into a colored medal system as it really diminishes the value of each accomplishment.

I understand how people don't like the max of 30 medals, but lack's rationale was that more roman numerals wouldn't fit, he didn't want digits, and he has to pay the medal designer for more numbers on the medals. If the copied medals can be done, I'll explore making that change, but I don't plan on pushing for colored medals. And either way, it's going to be a MAJOR difficulty to go back and award medals for more than 30 tournaments. If no one has noticed, the medalsphp page already takes FOREVER to load.

Silver -11-24
Gold -25-49
Platinum-50+

if we have platinum then yes i like those numbers if not

bronze 1-10
silver 11-30
gold 31+ or something like that

Looking these medals Hall of fame there are the next steps:
ORGANIZERS:
MORE THAN 100: ==> 3
50 TO 100: 10
30 TO 50: ==> 9
20 TO 30: ==> 9
10 TO 20: ==> 29

WINNERS:
MORE THAN 100: ==> 1
50 TO 100: ==> 1
30 TO 50: ==> 8
20 TO 30: ==> 15
10 TO 20: ==> APROX 60

Depending on how many golden, silver and bronze medals will be in CC, but it looks clear
bronze is 1 to 10.

Also because CC use 30 images to represent these awards that is why I told about diferent steps when the colour change, I think it is the same if the medal say 50 "L" or 51 "LI" that is why the representation also should be by different step when silver or gold, so with 30 images we can count ... til more than thousand.

First of all, I think the suggestion is a great idea - well done, jricart. However, I do have one quibble, as a tournament organizer. My tournaments tend toward the large and extreme...so 101 tournaments is, quite frankly, never going to happen. I have almost always had at least one tournament running at any given time and in the almost three years I've been here, I have just started my sixth tournament. Perhaps some sort of consideration should be given for the size and complexity of a tournament as well?

as i said in some other thread on the subject,,
if we see to the whole community how many % even have 1 tourney-win? how many have more than 5= more than 10 and so on,, if blitz (lets face it he does spend a lot of time doing this, and doing it very well) has 30 tourney-wins and the gold should be at 100 (only HA up there who ONLY plays tourneys and does THAT very well)..

well you catch my drift.. like the idea think maybe levels of achievement should be adjusted a bit..

I disagree with the original suggestion completely. The exact number of tourneys won and/or organized is significant.

Do something to enable the recognition of more than 30 wins, which solves the original motivation behind this suggestion, imo...

With all due respect to HighlanderAttack it does seem like there should be some extra recognition for the more interesting and complex tourney organizing.

Certainly an interesting thought. I pretty much stopped counting medals and tournament wins with the introduction of the 16-player bracket. Unless it's a very compelling concept I mostly use tourneys to learn new maps now.

I just recently received two medals for winning tournaments. Special Map Doubles was 75 games on 35 of the most complicated maps over the course of a year and a half.

The other was Bleak's Official Tournament Of Randomness. While I enjoy random maps I didn't even realize I'd won until the organizer informed me. Guess which tourney win meant more to me.

I'm already starting to feel like a tin-pot dictator with the medals that I have, but if it makes you guys feel good then add some more medals.
