Is that the year they took the silver after the controversial loss to the then-USSR? Or was that one of the Dream Teams?

edit: was Magic Johnson on that team, before he joined the NBA? Actually, now I read that back it sounds like a rather dumb question lol. But I stand to be corrected

Nah, that was in Munich in '72... all those silver medals are still in a vault somewhere. The US team refused to accept them. One of the top three most egregious hose-jobs in the history of sports.

Aha, I see. I remember seeing the last moments of that game on a highlights reel some years back and thought the whole thing was rather farcical :evil:

It's neither wake or UNLV... especially since UNLV won the title in (I think) 1991...

okay, hinty time: the school in question has the word 'eagles' in their mascot name. So they could be the eagles or the blahblah eagles... that should narrow it down a bit, but not too much.

I'm going to go with Paul Coffey.... if it ain't him, I've got another name that it might be...

I have no idea how many goals he scored, but given the team he played on, 50 isn't out of the question.

You are correct.

All the more impressive is that he did it in the strike-shortened 144-game 1995 season. The funny thing is that the following season, Belle, who was quite the noted asshole, wrote "50/50" on his cleats to celebrate the achievement. Then one day teammate Eddie Murray, no warm and cuddly guy himself, decided to give him shit and asked Belle is the 50/50 was supposed to denote his fielding percentage. Hilarity ensued.
