b00060 wrote:I'd reply to your responses, but with CC they fall on deaf ears. Apparently they don't feel that paying members should have the right to segregate themselves from freemiums if they choose in games.

No, they don't because a high percentage of people begin as freemium before becoming paid. Freemiums are already limited to 4 active games and no speed games. If they were further limited, the view is that new recruitment would go down.

b00060 wrote: Not sure if they did any research, but I bet the multi hunting would be a lot easier when people have no reason to create multiple accounts if they can't keep joining paying members games and ruining them. As far as your other comments joshy, I'll just ignore them and keep playing and see you on the battlefield.

As per multis. I have to say, I have been here more than 2 years, played more than a few games and the few jerks I have met were always multis. They tend to "out" themselves. I am not sure that any organization can utterly eliminate cheaters.

As per the research. Yes, various marketing analysis, etc have been conducted. Overall, allowing freemiums helps the site more than hinders. We only get to play 4 games at any one time, so the impact of any one freemium is small. Multis.. cheaters will cheat. Plain and simple. I have met few in this site. More tend to flock to freestyle, I think. If they bother you that much, consider other playing styles or games?.. at least for a time.

Per the dice... random means unpredictable, not "even". Think of the number of rolls each day. At one point I calculated there had to be several hundred thousand rolls each day. That means that the 1 in a million roll would happen, on average every other day. BUT, remember, "average" includes a lot of extreme variation. Streaks are a pain if they happen to you and you expect things to stay even. But, life and dice are not like that.

Oh, and I was premium for 2 years, etc... I could not afford to renew. Probably will at some point again, unless some of the more draconiam suggestions get passed.

But it doesn't have to be that way, is it that hard to see that we are paying members who get our colors for helping the site in some way...and the guys in red are the ones actual employees of the site?

Being paid has nothing to do with it. Volunteers still are representatives to the public of whatever organization/group they are working for.

If I had a volunteer working for me, I surely would not appreciate them shooing away paying customers. In fact, I'd probably relinquish them of any responsibilities and find someone who can be a good face for the business instead.

Give the man a fucking cigar.

The Walmart attitude and level of smug disdain is atrocious. If you accept the responsibility to represent the site, you have no business being a snotty, cavalier, schmuck about replying to a dissatisfied member. Regardless if his claims are valid or not, you could at least make an effort to employ a little professionalism in your reply. Address the concerns by at least offering him an outlet, like a link to ongoing Sugg's and Bug's topics, or something of the sort. Anything but the "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out" Approach.

Each departure of a decent paying member cheapens the site. Couple that with cultivating the image of it being run by a bunch of snotty punks even more so.

How exactly are freemiums helping the site? If everyone was a freemium, the site would not exist. Let Freemiums play each other, how is that not fair?

Because when I was a freemium it was nice to play premiums. If you're saying a game option, thats cool, but if you want outright segregation, then thats not cool.

I should have good dice. I should have the right to exclude freemiums. Sure, I could just start private games, but that's beside the point, because I am paying so every whim of me should be catered to. And gog help if someone volunteers to help the site they like, they should be like all over me, the paying customer, obsessing over my every whim and comforting me when I whine about how the world is so unfair.

After all, I'm entitled to it.

Do you really need to ask this question?

most of the better players are premiums because they have had more games to gain experience so you are preventing them from playing against better competition so that they can learn. Also lets be honest if everyone a freemium ever joined a game with was a freemium wouldn't they think this must be a bad investment if no one else has made it? Because i sure as hell would...

Now you know this is never going to happen, lackattack is strictly against segregation of players...the same allow players to play only people their rank has been suggested and rejected 100's of times.

You know, if my name was not coloured in, I would have said the exact same thing.
You think just because I serve the community in a small capacity in Suggestions that I am no longer a member of the community myself? Am I not entitled to speak my mind, like the rest of you? If I was a Global Moderator or an admin, then I would have to remain impartial at all times, but I am just a simple Suggestions Moderator. That is where my "power" begins and ends, simple as.
I find the reactions of the people in this thread dispicable, however I really expected nothing less from my fellow human beings.
As for [player]b00060[/player], he was nice enough not to go ballistic at me and I will have the pleasure of playing him again sometime soon.

No one is asking for you to not speak your mind - there is absolutely nothing wrong with what ljex just said, so what does a "colored in name" have to do with anything? There are plenty of ways for you to speak against things you feel need to be fixed on the site. But saying stuff like the below goes way beyond what a volunteer that is supposed to be supporting a business should say to potential customers:

JoshyBoy wrote:Meh... lackattack will survive without your small contribution, don't worry!

Again, if i was Lackattack I sure would not approve of the people who are volunteering to make me money, causing me money.

Your quote, and some of what Gannable said, have been the only "dispicable [sic]" things said in this thread. Everyone else has merely stated opinion free from any flames. No one else has "gone ballistic".

the children on the jr. mint mod squad simply do not get it. they are causing more problems than solutions and think that they have been given the keys to the kingdom and may do as they please. comments like joshy's should be noted and dealt with by people higher up than he is, so he can understand the responsibility that comes along with his coloured name. there are many senior moderators around here that moderate as they always have and are doing wonderful jobs. the new jr. mint mod squad seem to all be appointed due to being CC cheerleaders and pro CC spammers in the forums. many of them do not even know the rules and enforce things based on personal bias and/or one of their friends not liking a comment in the forums. someone needs to get a firm grip on what is going on around here. the attempt to stop the slide in the forum community has only created a larger swell of outrage by paying members that contribute to the site... it is getting out of control...-the black jesus

You are horribly out of touch with the community, and have no business being a mod. The way you behave in these forums is absolutely ridiculous. Please start showing (even if it's just for pretend) some maturity. A little respect for those around you can go a long way.

the funny thing is, these kids don't realize that many of us are actually adults and not kids like they are. the way they handle grown adults with their juvenile antics is absolutely ridiculous. joshy's response here shows just how out of touch he is with the community that he is here to serve... just an overall sad state of affairs... i truly hope this isn't the forum/community that the admins had in mind when they went about the wholescale overhaul/dismantling of the forum community... i just can't believe this is what they anticipated or hoped for... and by appointing a bunch of pro CC spamming kids to rule the roost, i truly am dumbfounded by what they did expect to occur within the community other than this downward spiral...-the black jesus

There is a point that has yet to be raised. By creating a culture of acceptance of whatever comes, lackattack has created a culture of allowing his mods to speak for him. The lack of participation of lackattack in this site has given over control to the moderators for the most part. Since he has done that, he has to live with the reactions of said moderators. And Joshy, not understanding that you are representing this site in everything you do is foolish on your part. When you become a moderator you accept that you have changed your role from something other than just a paying member. You have knowingly accepted that your role has changed and pretending that is hasn't is just silly. It is after all why you campaigned to be a moderator for a long time before you became one and you're reactions in this thread show why there are some that resisted that desire.

I have played several good fremium teams on this site, my most recent being Game 7830767, though I see one of them has purchased premium since the game ended. I wouldn't want to not have the opportunity to play against such opponents just because they're freemium.

JoshyBoy wrote:Meh... lackattack will survive without your small contribution, don't worry!

1) You shouldn't count other people's money. I was shown this site by a premium member. I showed it to two other people, both buying premium, one of them re-buying. Since I've been here, I've bought premium for two people. It's not just about one player's "small contribution" but the chain effect it has as the game is spread. If you had made this comment to the person who showed me this site and he did not renew his premium and did not show me the site, Lack wouldn't have lost $25, he'd have lost $175, so the contribution isn't necessarily small.

2) You are entitled to an opinion; however, I don't like how your opinion belittles the contribution that each player makes. Believe it or not, a spare $25 is incredibly difficult for some people to come by and they have to make small sacrifices just to be able to play here as often as they do. Making such a comment spits in their face. I'd be pleased with an apology for this comment, not because you're a volunteer mod, but because of the inherent disrespect of that opinion.

We should have segregation. It would be more incentive for freemis to go preemi in order to get into preemi games and for preemis to re-up.

I also hate the fact that a large % of freemi accounts are multi and that skews the games and point system and the inability/lack of desire of CC to protect its premium customers from #1 rule violators pisses me and others off...

Give the freemis their own game arena and keep em out of mine.

(FyI. I know of several peeps, including myself, that are filling foe lists with freemis cuz of this crap.)

I pay for me to play. Not for someone else to have a great time for free.

The problem is, when I started playing, I couldn't really do much to get premium. I would have had to ask my parents, and I doubt I would have been able to convince them at the time. So I would have been mad that I couldn't play all the premiums, and would want it, but would be unable to get and might have left. Now that I have the ability to pay, I will, but had I been stuck earlier, lack may not be getting my money now.

SO you claim you would not have had fun playing for free. I'm not buying that. I had fun playing for free. I went preemi cuz I wanted more games. No other reason.

jefjef great way of summarizing exactly how I feel. Everything you said is 100% what I am trying to communicate to CC. Freemiums can still play one another, but premiums should have the right to be exempt from having to play them should they desire. I too have a large foe list filled with ? who play their first game like a hatter and are obvious multis. I am sick of taking a 50 point hit for no reason and play way to many games to make them all private and try and invite worthy players. I would love to set-up a bunch of my favorite maps and settings without having to worry about looking like a farmer when they get filled up in a few minutes by fake accounts. How is letting freemiums get their feet wet by playing one another a bad thing?

I don't disagree necessarily with the segregation idea (though I think there are better ways to handle it, for instance based on "time on the site or being premium"), but how do you know to remove them from your foe list once they purchase premium, then?
