anything that especially works?

I assume this is a standard, multiplayer game? Terminator, assassin or two player would make things a lot easier.

Your plan should depend on how big the map is. On a small map you should try to kill someone with a well-timed set. You're not in a great position to draw the game out a long time and hope to make clever tactical moves to give you an advantage, but if you can eliminate a player you increase your chance of winning.

On a big map just play as though there were no cards, but keep two lines of defense on your borders so that if one is bombed you can move up the next round. Holding exterior borders is helpful here.

options:
-you can have couple of stacks but never one
-you can spread out with 2s on your regions
-never kill (esp. small map) so you have mid-turn cash in
-never give up
-don't expect people to move onto region you left'em to move on
-backup the backup of the backup
-you don't have to rush cards,so you can easly build up till 1st cash ins are possible

Nuclear on small maps, I find, get interesting. It usually ends up being a flat land swarmed by neutral ones and nearly everyone else doesn't have anything larger than a 4. In this case, I usually go with the strategy of ALWAYS having 2's in place of ones. This will cause your opponent to lose more troops, and you can deploy what is probably 3 troops to make a 5 and take ones. This happens a lot in Doodle Earth to me and it seems to work.

Try luring your opponent into taking a region you know you'll nuke.

nuclear in general

Make as few attacks as you possibly can to get a single card and connect your stacks. Place all your troops on that safe territory (it is safe because you own it). Build a large stack while your opponents bomb each other to death and leave 1's all over the map. Eventually you will find yourself with a stack large enough to make a run at an opponent. Take him out and park on another safe zone. Lather, rinse, and repeat.

Important note: Cards recycle each time they are turned in, a territory that was nuked last round can and will be nuked again, probably sooner than later.

As far as I know, your opponent can only have the same card as you when there aren't enough territories to guarantee that the same card isn't drawn twice. For example, if you're going to play an eight player doodle game, It might be possible that everyone holds 5 cards. That would be 40 cards, when there are only 18 territories. In that game, each territory can be drawn 3 times.

This could be considered cheap but if you're playing a game and you have 4 cards and you can't help but cash something next turn that will hurt you, you can start you turn and attack away, but instead of ending your turn you can let the time run out. You won't get to reinforce but you won't have to cash next turn either since you won't get a card. A player did this to me very effectively one game
