What's a batter, btw? No such thing exists in cricket, maybe in baseball, but not in cricket. Batsman sounds so much better.

Well, perhaps if we leave it alone then some Baseball players might be hooked into playing this map also. ;)

I agree with the 'Batsmen' sentiment - anything else just isn't cricket :P

A horizontal 12 would probably be easier to interpret than the vertical one; I don;t know if it would look weird with the vertical text or not?

Just my thoughts...

I'm a baseball fanatic, know next to nothing about Cricket, and will still play this map... because it's amusingly strange.

Plus there's a streaker. ;)

Id' prefer things to remain exactly as they are thanks.
Let's get this into BETA, please.

Oh hell. I'd better beware in case the International Cricket Control Baord sanctions me.
Get over it please, this is a game on CC.

Why have Batsman 3, Batsman 4, and Batsman 5, but Batter 1 and Batter 2? That's the sort of thing that gives a lot of people an itch. With these names, 3, 4, and 5 will appear before 1 and 2 in the drop down lists, which is going to look odd. I would think that it wouldn't take long to change the graphics, and I could do a search and replace in two shakes on the XML. I suspect this niggle is all that is holding the map out of Beta.

And if you continue to bring it up, it will continue to to hold the map up.
My map, i want it this way.
End of story.
Got it!

i too thought at first that it looked odd, but only because the names were different, then wondered whether the naming was to differentiate those in the pavilion whose main job it was to bat (batsmen) from those who happened to be at the wicket (batters, whose main job might or might not be the same as their current role - a spin bowler who was batting at that moment would be called batter 1).

whatever, the question is one that will be asked and is worthy of a better answer than the one below.

"Batter & Fielder on same line equals caught out for -1."

The minus sign doens't show up so well on the small image and could be mis-interpreted as being +1.
Could you possibly make that symbol a little larger?

With a 20-20 victory under our belt (despite the questionable integrity of the opposition), let's get this map into Beta:

          Beta - Quenching

---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Cricket Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

              Image

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
    1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuances or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. Please update the Map Information Portal with details of your map
    3. Finally, it is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.
