i agree with you but you have to keep in mind a number of things.

If medals give some people incentive to buy premium and others to enjoy the game more is there really anything wrong with that? well? honestly if you don't like it make your own games that's what i do.

and if you are to afraid to make a map and randomly get some players are you not doing the farming you hate so much?

and it's one player who gets the title and if you had the most points would you not want others to know? and even if all you do is farm you have to be be well more than a decent player.

if the start, drop and dice are all random then in truth the games where the first player to go first is just as much of a chance of it being you then the next Joe. so it may give some in one game but over time it will even out.

so relax take a chill pill and have fun. if you aren't having fun why are you here? well this is a game not real life its meant to relax you so you can chill.

If people buy premium for medals, let them. What I don't need is everyone patting themselves on the back like they've accomplished something. The problem with the medal system is that it does not reward true achievements and has completely undermined the quality of the tournament system.

As for creating maps and the farming point, they are completely unrelated. I was saying that there are suggestions about delaying the start of fog games like clans have agreed to do in clan challenges because that is the most fair and does not confer a huge advantage beyond what dice and a drop does. If I create a fog game and I go after the other team moves without seeing the map, I'm not put at a huge disadvantage and the suggestion has not been truly considered. I understand that the Suggs mods are overwhelmed but you completely whiffed on my point.

I would never have the most points on the site. I don't care enough to leave detailed chat for multiple low ranked players at a time nor can my computer run clickies as a program, especially seeing how firefox has crashed 4 times while writing this post.

Start, drop and dice? You're right, blue is a great color.

Why am I here? Because I'm a masochist who thinks one day I'll log on and start having fun again. Like I said there are aspects of the site I enjoy and if I'm not allowed to talk about the aspects I dislike than f*ck me but what happened to a user-driven community? But you're right, if I continue to despise 80% of the site then I don't think I'll re-up and if you look at contributing members who used to be prominent but who have all but disappeared I'd say the quality of the site has gone down - what happened to AndrewB, Seussleuthian, aliakber, Dancing Mustard, and a whole elephant graveyard of community members that made this site thrive?

I hardly ever come the the Blitz's ego stroking thread creation forum because I was kind of bored, reading about how inadequate his trouser snake is.

But this thread!! - Wow! A work of genius by the author. So much stuff written in the first post is absolutely golden. I've often got the right arseache with this site, but I've never taken the time to write such an articulate thread that actually covers all the points.

If admin hasn't read this thread, then a mod should be sending Lack a linked pm.

If just one thread a quarter in GD was this good, I'd come here more often and read stuff / add input.

DM got a permanent forum ban and decided to quit playing.

seussleuthian is still around some, hopefully his passion will come back and he'll reup his premium.

I've actually gotten feedback/inquiries from quite a few mods - to my count 6 covering C&A, Chat, Discussions, Clans, Suggs, and Tech - on my thoughts etc. and I was actually pretty surprised at most of the reactions. I figured this would be locked fairly quickly for a few obvious reasons but apparently what I said hit a nerve with a few people who had similar sentiments. All of their comments have been receptive and nice and I'd like to say "cheers" to them for taking the time to read and go out of their way to keep this open so people can continue to post and discuss

As for contacting Lack, I was going to write on his wall but someones beat me to it...

It's pretty much unworkable but that doesn't mean the site cannot take the official policy that the minimum age is "x" and for those who chose not to read the rules, spam the forums, and just be a constant nuisance, I don't anticipate them to actually read the policy regarding age and I'm sure quite a few could be restricted when they put their age as 12 on their profiles. If you can conduct yourself like an adult on the site, power to you and you can continue to play. This is directed towards the others who cannot control themselves.

Granted, some websites have age verification where it checks a debit or credit card without charging and those who do premium could verify but I understand some might have qualms about doing that for a casual gaming site.

I know IMVU does age verificiation (but this is for 18+ as opposed to 15+) I'm having problems with the internet right now (some pages like this one load fine and others seem hung at certain places) so I can't pull up their help page but I think they use a third party verification service that costs them $$$$.

(trying it one more time ... still not loading for me)

i think this is a good idea you could make it that they have to tick a box saying they are of age, but on a down side i do remember reading a couple of months ago that a teacher uses cc for his leasons with disabled children might be worth adding a poll for this.

Why in gods name did that teacher let them all create an account?

In my experience, age is not necessarily a guarantee of maturity. I don't think it would be good for business to start restricting users based on age. Not to mention there's really no viable means of enforcing such a rule.

first of all, I'm not over 18, and I think I'm mature enough ;). Even more, there's at least 1 mod who's 17, and he's definitely mature. There's also definitely people who are not mature, mostly kids, but also people over 18.

But the biggest problem is that it couldn't be enforced, there's not really any point, people will just say they're 18.

it isn't about flaming... it is about the quality of the forums and the general attitude of the site since the mass bannings began... oddly enough less than 3% of the site ever visit the forums, yet they were cleaned up for the masses and underage children that may have seen or read something offensive. in cleaning up the forums by going for the lowest common denominator (anyone that has read an old thread vs one of the newer style mod created/troll bumped threads can attest to this), the flavor and uniqueness of the forums was lost. many people that were given permanent bans were not understood by the admins/majority of mods, but loved by the loyal forum goers. guess who won out in the end. it wasn't the consumers and loyal forum goers. this place is now overrun with under age trolls, suck up volunteer mods (i hate that many of the older mods that are fabulous in their capacity are lumped in with the new class of troll mod), repeat spam threads, and a litany of offenders that have yet to read the forum rules. say what you want about DM, but i can pull any one of his threads out, dust it off, bump it, and it would still stand up today as being witty, edgy, smart, fun, rebellious and teetering on the edge of the rules... say what you want, but when Twill was replaced by an imaginary admin sent in to clean things up, a huge part of what makes CC special died... they didn't just manage to kill off a few of the dissidents, they managed to kill off the forums...-the black jesus

Ignoring the gameplay complaints for a moment, let's assume that the complaints about the General Discussion and/or Off-Topics forums are valid. My initial reaction is that we can and should make those forums more witty, smart, fun, rebellious, etc. My second reaction is that we (the people reading this thread and the people reading the forums) should take some sort of responsibility for making those forums more witty, smart, fun, rebellious, etc. I include myself in that group.

I know that some peoples' initial reactions are "we should bring back Dancing Mustard." Assuming that will not happen, are there alternatives? I say yes. And those alternatives are to be witty, smart, fun, and rebellious (within the rules) yourselves. I've found that, although perhaps we've lost some entertaining posters, there remain entertaining and intelligent posters and we are constantly bringing in new ones. I think if you want to be one of those posters, you should try to be one. If you are complaining about the lack of entertainment in the forums, go provide that entertainment. I can certainly understand how you can have some frustration regarding the content of the forums, but a lot of you are witty, smart, fun, and rebellious and, therefore, you can change the content of the forums to reflect the content you want to see.

Well you already know what happened to DancingMustard. It seems like AndrewB's still around occasionally, though he doesn't post. Seulessliathan was one of my favorite tourney players...I don't have any idea at all why he or aliakber left.

I've been here since year dot. I try to be witty, smart fun and rebellious, but to be honest it's hard work being funny when so many of this sites great protagonists have been banned, there is less and less material to work with.

But we're just touching on the humorous forum content. Trapyoung brought up other valid points regarding the endless dice bitching threads, the endless congratulatory threads. I'd add to that the endless obama threads and the endless American political threads. Why don't the mods focus on these repetitive threads and just merge them until they no longer become an issue?
I'll admit that I recently created a thread congratulating myself on breaking my high score, but, I made it in the bumpage forum (where I inhabit on a regular basis) for a change and added a ridiculous poll to let everyone vote to say I should STFU about talking about points and it took me 2 and a half years to break that score.

If you want the forums to be a place to visit, make them more varied in content / title.

But the mods instead allow countless dice gripes, obama sucks, I've got 4000 points and a todger that wouldn't fill a hummingbirds arsehole to remain. They then ban DM, dm goes and soon after heavycola disappears. 2 of the greatest posters in bumpage go and you expect new witty posters to replace these heavyweights? New and witty posters would of been encouraged by having these people and more like them in place instead of having their input removed.

But Trap also touched on the lack of decent open games. So far, it's the players who have to set up games with some standard password if you have a certain amount of points. This site hasn't done jack shit to give this as an option to the paying players. We have to come up with this stuff ourselves.
Clan ladder games?
Again we have to set it all up
Where is the site in promoting the team work ethic that makes a great clan or a great quad team etc. ?
Doesn't the admin here understand that being in a clan could be a massive part of the site, and income, if organized by the site efficiently instead of some poor schmuck having to do loads of donkey work and adding stuff up manually...

Card counters?
Again we have people creating scripts to do the most basic things and it takes the site 2 fucking years to say "Hey! - that's a great idea to implement and without it, it was unfair to players that didn't know where to find the script download thread in the forums"

And all the other add on scripts that people have made. Sure it's less work for the game server and makes running the site slightly cheaper by letting people find this stuff out for themselves, but If I applied the same sort of logic to the company I worked for we'd sell just 10% of what we actually sell.

I would of thought that by now, Lack would of known exactly who his key customers are. He could of created a forum for non mod, non brown nosing players to discuss how to take the site forward.
I know we have an official suggestions section, but that is so bogged down with suggestions that it's become a quagmire, no longer a melting pot of bright ideas.

So do you think if the moderators merge or remove the dice-bitching threads, congratulatory threads, obama threads, and American political threads, there will be more varied, witty, and entertaining threads? This is what confuses me - you could go right now into the off-topics forum and create whatever thread you wanted (within the rules) (like, for example, a thread on ska music). So why don't you do that? Because Dancing Mustard and heavycola aren't here? That simply doesn't make sense to me. The entertainment one gets from the forums is user-created entertainment. So, if there isn't enough entertainment, it should be the responsibility of the user (and, yes, the discussion moderators like me) to provide more entertainment, right? I'm in a couple of private user groups and there are fantastic, witty, and entertaining threads in the forums of those user groups. They are all users of this site and could post those types of threads in off-topics (or general discussion if CC-related).

Be friends with them because they're good players or fun to talk to, but not to get your hard on.
