Except that the winner of the group goes into the supposedly weaker side of the elimination bracket.ga7 wrote:Lol somehow I don't think Brazil and Portugal will go all out for that one. Both are qualified, there will be little incentive...

But yeah, the Chile/Spain game will probably be the match of the day.

you guys can't be serious. the poll has the US winning it all, and this crazy doctor states the US will reach the semis.Doc_Brown wrote:Here's the bracket for the rest of the tournament. My bet for the Semis is US loses to Brazil and Germany loses to Portugal. Brazil vs. Portugal for the cup and US vs. Germany for third place.
You know, for someone who complains that this forum is too America-centric you seem to keep injecting it into whatever topic out of nowhere. Not only that, but you seem to like politicizing it as well.Pedronicus wrote:typical American can do attitude in this vote regardless of ability.
No wonder the gun laws are fucking groovy and the current economic shit-storm isn't a capitalist creation.
Do me a fucking favour you American Cunts and wake the f*ck up.
US has a very reasonable shot at getting to the semis. You're the one not being realistic.jaimito101 wrote:you guys can't be serious. the poll has the US winning it all, and this crazy doctor states the US will reach the semis.Doc_Brown wrote:Here's the bracket for the rest of the tournament. I'm not really disagreeing with you, but surely the US qualifies as something better than "average", as you say.Pedronicus wrote:beezer wrote:You know, for someone who complains that this forum is too America-centric you seem to keep injecting it into whatever topic out of nowhere. Well in this thread I'm basing it on the fact hat USA has 24 votes and is the most voted for winner, in a competition that I doubt the USA would win. Until America provides a team with about 2-3 excellent players that might just carry the rest of the average team.
All teams that win this cup have a couple of great players, or the team is just psychic in it's understanding of passing, I'd love to see America win the world cup because I'd love to see the whole of the USA embrace football as a sport.
But based on what I've seen so far, I think that a decent outside bet would be Japan.
They play as a team, don't have the mental weight on them as a possible winner, and can take a free kick with that weird ball and stick it in the back of the net.
I feel weird saying this, But GO JAPAN!!!!!
To win this world cup from now, you need to win 4 games. by the law of averages, an average team won't do it, but there is an outside chance that in 4 knock-out game situation, a strange team can win it, if they get the breaks. This applies to anyone still left in it.InkL0sed wrote:

I could agree with all of those except for Mexico over Argentina. Both of the June 29 games will come down to Golden Goals or PKs.Doc_Brown wrote:Here's my picks:
26 June games:
US over Ghana
Uruguay over South Korea
27 June games:
Germany over England
Mexico over Argentina (this one is probably wrong, but I'm rooting for Mexico here!)
28 June games:
Netherlands over Slovakia
Brazil over Chile
29 June games:
Japan over Paraguay
Spain over Portugal
