I don't want to insult anyone's musical taste, as people are certainly entitled to their own opinion in such things. I don't understand, though, how System of a Down's lyrics can be considered poetic. They've written, recorded and published songs that seem to completely ignore the rules of the English language. I had a very, very hard time understanding how a line such as "the most loneliest day of my life" could have gotten past the editorial process. Was it parody? There has to be something I'm overlooking.

okay thats why when I gave Colossus some of System's poetic songs I didn't say Lonely Day... ya it is a sarcastic joke made by Mr. Daron Malakian himself although its not very good...but I'm tired of people complaning about System's entire status just because 1 song is grammatically incorrect...if you want some poetic songs from their classic albums go look up Chop Suey!, Toxicity, Aerials, and probably the most poetry you'll ever find in a rock song, Spiders this song uses a crapload of symbolism...go look up the music videos for all those songs on youtube and then tell me system isn't poetic...and also try and figure out what any of those songs mean...you won't thats how poetic they are...

I went through your suggestions, and I'll admit that not everything they have to offer is as silly and frivilous as the band's singles from recent memory. I don't think I'll ever get over associating the band with their sing-songey hits (still eww @ BYOB and Lonely Day -.-;), but if you find meaning in their work, I'm willing to admit that there's something deeper behind the band for its more devoted fans.

The Beatles, duh.

The Bangles are the best one for a female group I'm pretty sure. I think there's someone else i just can't think of them right now.

BYOB is also poetic (with politics!!!) but I see your point with lonely day...and otherwise, thank you for understanding
