Turn Timer

Post by FlyinV »

Hey!
New CC player and this is a really great and fun deal!

Being a NOOB! I will throw out an idea I am sure has been mentioned a million times before.

A player statistic that calculates the average time it takes you to take your turn.

Automatically -- As soon as its your turn and the email has been sent the timer starts and stops when you completed your turn.
Then you can easily identify players that are online all the time and do many turns ... and players who only log in once a day.

See you in the battles!

I second this suggestion! It should also factor into your player rating or something visible when selecting new games. I want to play with people who take their turn quickly.

Understandably there are limitations when playing against people in other time zones (AU v. US especially).

I think this has been suggested and rejected, as we already have a % of turn taken counter, which is just as good in my opinion..

I take my turns multiple times a day, but the last thing I want is emails filling up my inbox telling me I have a turn to take. I'll check my turns when I have time. If there's going to be notification emails involved, it should be an opt-in procedure.

But are you really going to only join games with people who take their turns within a certain average period of time? It seems like a lot of trouble to go through to check everyone's rating before joining a game. Just wondering...

I don't have a problem with a public averaging of time it takes for a player to take a turn and posting that stat on a player's profile page, but... I don't think it should affect a player's overall rating. Just because someone can't log on every hour to take turns shouldn't lower their rating.

That being said, I do think missed turns should be calculated into a player's rating.

It is! What do you rate someone when they miss a turn or two in your game? How about when they miss 3 turns and you get deadbeated? Don't you rate the low stars? Doesn't that affect their rating?

I meant that they should automatically be calculated into a player's rating. For example, for every 10 missed turns they drop a 10th of a point or something. And yes, I do rate people poorly when they deadbeat. But as for a few missed turns without deadbeating, I'm usually not very harsh on them, unless it's a lot of missed turns.
