Just wanted to start a thread to see what everyone’s political view point here is (I’ve already figured out a few of the ā€œfacesā€ here already, just wanted to get a handle on the rest of you.

This isn’t necessarily to start a debate – just to state your alignment/party and what you stand for/against.

If you're apolitical or just apathetic fell free to post as well.

P.S. For people undecided I’d suggest taking the test at http://www.politicalcompass.org to give you a good idea where you stand.

To get the ball rolling I’ll start.

I’d describe myself as a Communist (though the term is often incorrectly applied) no particular doctrine although I’m probably closest to Marxist-Leninist.

I believe in the equality of all men and women (regardless of Race, Religion or Creed).

I’m thoroughly internationalist (and thus pro-European), anti-imperialist, though not necessarily pacifist.

I don’t particularly believe in democracy but I support free speech and detest police-states (I see no contradiction in this).

If in power I would nationalise all industry (eventually looking for a system that would allow the abolishment of money) and allow councils of workers to run each business.

I’m not a member of a political part as I feel the far left parties in Britain are more interested in sectarian infighting than progressive politics.

I voted Labour/SSP in the last Scottish election and LibDem in the last UK election (I will never vote Labour again with Blair at the helm –due to his stance on the Iraq war).

Far right economically, and probably lean left on most social issues.

Jesse Bad Boy is a Capitalist Anarchist (believing in a non Government interventionist capitalist free market. Spanish Civil war had left wing Anarchist groups setting up communes without money being used. Or are you just a classic anarchist meaning no need for any government?

I am a Rothbardian-Objectivist, or more simply, an Anarcho-Capitalist with objectivist influences.

I am of the firm belief that the State is nothing more than a tool in which individuals violate the rights of other individuals under the guise of "for the good of the state/people/collective" etc.

I believe that laissez faire capitalism is the most free economy and allows the most liberties.

I believe that taxation on any level is criminal and morally equivalent to extortion. Moreover, I believe that taxation is the states artificial attempt to create poverty, keeping a rift between the "classes" and steering criticism away from the state.

I believe that rationality is the base moral quantifier for all mankind.

I do not believe in any artificial hierarchies (church, state, etc.), but am willing to accept them as long as they were entered through mutual consensual contract.

I believe that every individual should be armed to the teeth, irrespective of whatever arbitrary social/economic status they should be labeled.

I believe that any individual has the right to sign any contract and carry it through to the full extent of their ability.

According to that website, I'm a Communist/Libertarian. That's pretty accurate I'd say. Although I am also more of a direct democracy kind of guy. Hmmm....

I always found "left" and "right" to be very misleading. Do you think you could further explain your views?

anarcho-communist (although i recognise that probably couldn't happen at first) with heavy, heavy emphasis on enviornmentalism and society being broken up into small pockets - ecoanarchist communes or kibbutzim essentially

You, ilevot, and hecter.

I usually associate "Left" with being more government (fascism and communism are essentially the same with paltry differences) and "Right" being less government.

By "right economically," I'd say less taxes, less government programs, less government interference in business. By "left leaning on social issues," I'd say I'm not a big fan of fetus empowerment or any of the other American right social platforms.

I don't hold with labels or tags as such. I'm a liberal leftie, according to that website, but I'm not an idealist. If anything I'm cynical, both of politics in general and of human nature.

well, by "right" this is what I mean. fiscaly or economically: lower taxes and not big goverment making laws over your every move etc...

and socially: I'm basically very Conservative in all my "social" views. in other words, morals. and as for the environmental issue in politics lately, I think it's pretty much just a hoax. there has been proof that the earth's weather/climate goes in cycles. right now, we're in a warming one. and I for one am a fan of it, living here in Northern Canada. :)

Serious case label envy

Postby CrazyAnglican on Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:13 pm

Man, I wish I could say I was an anarcho anything :-) or something cool sounding like that, but truth is I'm very middle of the road in my political views.

I'm known as a southern democrat (a dying breed as the democratic party is becoming more and more liberal).

My basic beliefs are that freedom of speech is our best defense against abuse by those in power.
The right to keep and bear arms is a necessary element in guarding against the same abuses.
Everyone has the right to decide on their own religion, career, lifestyle, and basically anything else. Likewise everyone has the responsibility to answer for those choices.
I do not believe that any country should trade freedom for security, and am highly skeptical of emergency measures.
I also believe that once committed to the field, my country's military deserves my full support. If I disagree with the manner in which they are being deployed then I will register that disapproval by campaigning against and voting against those responsible.
Oh, and I'm pro-choice (with regard to abortion) and anti-terrorism.

There is more, but that ought to pigeonhole me
