round1

It will be a round-robin tournament at the beggining, then an elimination later on. Starting with 24 people playing 12 games each. I will divide up the groups (6 of them) using random.org. Every game will be best of 3.
There will be three full group games, and 3 1v1 games. Preemies, only sorry (you will need more than 4 games). In the 1v1 games, there will be points distributed; 3 for a win, and 0 for a loss (best of 3, so only 3 points per match-up). Each group match will be worth 3 points for the win. First and second place both advance. That's a total of 12 people advancing.

second round

They will team up for a doubles match against the winners from another group. 6 will survive. (3 games per person from here on out). match-ups are as follows:

third round

Next, the winners will be separated and play 1v1 with one of the winners from another group. three winners go on, three losers go on.

rules

1. Maximum 1600 points (bottom of lieutenant)for sign-up.
2. If you ever are captain at the start of a round, you will be disqualified. IF you are disqualified, the last person you eliminated will take your place. Of course, point dumping to meet this requirement will not be tolerated.
3. You have 2 invites to join your games, or a reserve will take your place.

well, not really, but in my first attempt, the likely winner became a major b4 the tourney started, and is undefeated.

What ever happened to wanting to play the best to get better

I do not have a problem with signing up with a particular rank or range, but the disqualifying because someone does well and rises in rank should not be allowed. All that will do is give a free pass. What happens if the finals are set and one or both of the players rise into the captain rank. Do you give a free title or no title at all?

that rule is just the most stupid thing i have read in the turney forums in a long time and im not even sure its allowed within the structure..
its like having a tournament set up where the prize goes to the first player to be eliminated..

It is the best solution. the 2nd best player would go through, not the worst, and i've seen it done several times, but mostly with deadbeating.
