team 1 is us, it is according to the sign ups of how teams signed up. you are in 1st place, but out of the teams left, you should be the 2nd team according to the sign ups. here they are again, as you see below teams 2 thru 6 are out, even though you are listed team 7, you are now team 2 as they are all gone, and finally, it is not really fair for you to play same team again, as you just played them 9 games.

I just noticed this post. I have been busy at work and out of town a lot, so I haven't been checking the forums lately. I have a bit of a problem with this penalty for both teams.

For the first time that I can remember, you only sent the invite to the captains of each team for these games. Historically, you have been sending the invites to all of the members of each team. When you sent out the reminder that we were late joining the games, you sent it to all members of the team. I was out of town when you sent the initial invite and I had someone watching my account. In general, that person will go through my inbox as well and sign me up for games if I am going to be away for a couple of days ... in this case, I was gone for less than 48 hours, so they didn't even check.

If the invite had been sent to all members of the team, one of my teammates would have signed me up. It has happened before in this tournament, and we know to sign each other up when we were out of town. Presumable, a similar event befell our opponents. If I had to guess, the one person on the "Grey Matters" team who was signed up for the games was the team captain. He probably didn't realize he had to forward on the invite to his teammates since you usually send it to everyone anyway.

Nowhere in the rules does it state that the Captain will be the only one receiving the invite and is responsible for passing it along to the team. The only responsibility of the Captain in the rules is to post wins to get the 0.5 point bonus.

I really don't want to be a pain in the ass because this has been an extremely well run tournament and I know it has been a lot of work for you. If the past practice had always been to just PM the team captain and have him send out the invites, I wouldn't complain as I understand and appreciate the need for the 1 point penalty rule; however, this is a change from your method throughout the tournament of sending invites. I even recall the situation when I didn't participate in a set of games because the invite was sent out to all of my team members including my team's reserve, and the reserve joined the game before I could. At that time, I didn't complain; I only requested that the reserve be removed from future e-mails so that I could be responsible for inviting him if he was needed.

I personally feel there shouldn't be a penalty for either team.

I am organizing many tourneys, I have 9 ongoing, I got this one confused with another tourney. I did specifically say in the pm for captains to pm all partners and have them join asap and invite them in. neither did, and I was a bit upset. So, I checked into, and I realized I only did send it to the captains, and that was not right, I did need to send it to all players in the tourney. However, I did post this several times in this thread several days in advance when I was going to start up the new games and said Friday, this friday, back then when I posted. also, Bigragooch if you were out for a few days and your partners are on for you playing and joining your games, then why didnt they check your pm's to join the games??? confused I guess. it was -12 for you team and minus 9 for the other team, I can meet you in the middle and be fair here because I did not pm all players, however, I did pm the captains and told them in the pm to invite all players, so in the PM i did alert all to this, still nothing happened except 1 player joining, so, there does need to be some kind of penalty, (willing to negotiate) so, I do think some is your fault teams fault for not reading correctly or joining the games for you like you said they have in the past, the other is mine for not sending it to all players.
so, instead of minus 12 and minus 9, how bout -6 and minus 4.5 and meet you in the middle, I can go back and add 6 points to your team score and 4.5 to gray matters, sound ok?
