"Give x points to a random person" feature.

Postby The Neon Peon on Fri Oct 16, 2009 11:20 pm

Concise description:
  • Be able to donate points to a random person on the scoreboard.

Specifics:
  • Add some button where you enter in a number, and your score is reduced by that amount, and someone else's is increased by the same amount.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • It's way too hard to drop rank right now without "pointdumping" even playing doodle assassins or sequential doodle 1v1s.
  • It would allow people like me to keep their ranks from getting too high to have people join their games. I hate it how once you get to colonel no one joins your freestyle 1v1 speed games for a long time.

Btw. This is a legitimate suggestion. It's pathetically difficult to drop in rank without deatbeating or trying to lose games. It took me 3 days to drop from colonel back to major, things really should not be that difficult.

lol...

Step 1: Make 10 accounts
Step 2: Give 1,000pts from each of 9 accounts to 1 account
Step 3: Laugh at King Herpes as you chill at the top of the list with 10,000 pts

I don't think this is going to be implemented, but it would be nice to have a score reset at your will...

But then those who can't stay above 1000 will continuously reset. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having lower ranks then a private?

EDIT:

Do you seriously think the odds of that happening would be an issue in this...

*WHOOSH* I wonder what random means.

But this way, there is no net points gained or lost. ;)

I believe enacting this feature would be the same as: Eliminate all point of scoreboard whatsoever.

Seriously, there is an entire forum devoted to preventing this behavior...

Agreed, half the reason we have points is to give potential opponent an idea of the standard of player their up against. There are plenty of high ranked freestylers out there who'd be happy to join your games. Why don't you "friend" all of "the freestyle kingz" and wall them when you games don't take or something?

If you want to lose points without dumping, join some tournaments or get 100+ games going at once.

You could also have a noob babysit your account.

Ok, I do not recommend you take this advice at face value.

By all means you are free to join as many games as you think you can reasonably play, and as long as you actually try to win them, or play reasonably, there is nothing against the rules about it...its just game choice...the loss of points is more an indirect result of the game choice....however obvious the result was upon joining the games.

However, you cannot just have a noob babysit your account, UNLESS you canNOT make them yourself, and you are in danger of missing turns.

This is very poor advice if taken seriously.

I think the entire reasoning behind you wanting to give points away is silly. Here is the reasoning.

A) You want to lose points so people will join your freestyle games faster
B) You make your points beating people in freestyle games
C) People don't want to join your freestyle games because you are higher ranked due to beating people in freestyle games
D) So in the end, you want to do exactly what CC should be trying to prevent. You want to deceive people that you aren't that good at freestyle and then get them to join your game and kick the crap out of them for your own satisfaction.

Granted, I give you some credit because your end goal isn't to gain a bunch of points beating up on people, but at the same time you are wanting to deceive people so they will do exactly what they don't want to. It is not fair to the people that would choose not to join your game if your a colonel but are willing to join it if you are a major.

I'm sure moderation will have the same argument as name changes...

A low rank will greatly misrepresent you as a play and be kind of unfair for those who don't know you/of your skill level. I'm not against it, personally, (I'll take your points if you want   ) but expect this to be their rebuttal.

Word.

IMO the scoreboard is already fairly meaningless, but this would be the last nail in the coffin, a hole in the ground and concrete poured over.

Legalized points dumping. NO THANK YOU! (unless they all go to me)

If you have trouble filling games maybe it's because of the games you create. I for one am not afraid to play higher ranks. I prefer it. As many do. But not f/s.
