Was that a jab at the bulldogs oVo? Also I actually was thinking that the Texas Tech/Texas game could turn into a good one.oVo wrote:Florida State is far from a typical unranked team after coming up one play short of remaining undefeated against Miami. Virginia Tech was unbelievably lucky on their home field to slip past Nebraska and will have to play a lot better to have any chance against the Hurricanes next week. Georgia/Arkansas showed the nation what SEC defense is all about. Oops, that was Florida/Tennessee that featured the big hitting D and Texas/Texas Tech also had some Big D with splashes of offense tossed in for good measure. I sincerely doubt anyone but the Tennessee/Texas Tech coaches expected those games to be so close.
Some awesome games this weekend as Washington out played USC,
give the Huskies' defensive coordinator a game ball.

Well the road from here on jsut gets harder for most teams. Yep. We are enterring the heart of the College football season. THe next few months will have all the big games that we've been waiting for.luns101 wrote:Man, that was a great game (Georgia vs. Arkansas). I'm glad I picked Georgia at the last minute. The Texas vs. Texas Tech game was also very entertaining. Meanwhile, Penn State is quietly stomping over their opponents...I can't wait until they play some really good teams so we can see their true talent.
I heard Serbia was extremely anxious over the prospect of losing to Indiana this year

I don't know. I think there were fewer people saying that BYU would beat Oklahoma (even if BYU was ranked #20) than there were people saying that Washington could beat USC. I'm starting to wonder a bit about Florida, I still think they have to be the favorites to win the SEC however there are a few teams in the SEC especially in the SEC West that have the potential to beat Florida. As for Georgia, unless something changes drastically in the coming weeks it's going to be a very rough road for them. Their pass D has been pathetic the last couple of weeks and their run D while much more solid than the passing D isn't exactly stellar either. The Georgia offense on the other hand has been pretty good with the huge flaw of not protecting the ball (currently averaging 3 turnovers a game and have I believe -7 turnover margin), a stat that is especially sickening when you consider that our defense hasn't been forcing turnovers (especially when you consider the OK State game where there were plenty of opportunities for interceptions on both sides). They need to solve these problems quickly or they're going to have a lot of struggles competing in the SEC this year. Personally I feel and have felt this way for a while that Willy Martinez needs to go. He has continually proven himself to be one of the worst defensive coordinators in the SEC and the fact that he's still after having two weeks to prepare for GT last year and failing to stop them is pathetic.oVo wrote:The irony of my words isn't lost on me now as Washington's upset of the #3 ranked Trojans is by far the biggest upset of this young NCAA season... so far. There were lots of surprises yesterday. The margin of victory with Georgia over Arkansas wasn't surprising, but I doubt anyone expected that many touchdowns would be required to achieve it. Seeing 90+ points scored in the biggest shootout of the weekend was amazing.
I was a little surprised by both the Florida and Texas games, but they were both entertaining starts to conference play. Regardless of what some analysts predicted --that last year's PAC-10 doormat Huskies might be a tough game for Southern Cal-- that win is still a shocker.

You know that one year, a team like BYU or Boise State or Utah will end up in the championship game. They'll go undefeated a year after a one loss season (with that one loss coming to a BCS team) and all the major BCS teams will have a loss or two, and the pollsters will decide "this is the year!" and award them the game. Much like when Woodson won the Heisman as a defensive player, and no defensive player since has come remotely close to winning it since.strike wolf wrote:Even if BYU went undefeated what would be there chances at a national championship?Serbia wrote:BYU - there goes your chance at a National Championship this year! I'm just glad this isn't 2008. Michigan should easily score 45 on Indiana, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hoosiers also score 28-35.luns101 wrote:I heard Serbia was extremely anxious over the prospect of losing to Indiana this year

I think you're right and I hope that they do get their chance some time in the future.Serbia wrote:You know that one year, a team like BYU or Boise State or Utah will end up in the championship game. That's cool... Washington did give LSU a run for their money in week one. There's only one guarantee remaining in the NCAA season, these rankings are going to change a lot over the next two months.strike wolf wrote:This just in according to the AP poll. Florida and Texas are still #1 and #2 respectively. Alabama has moved up to #3 and Ole Miss #4 (giving the SEC 3 of the top 4 spots). USC dropped to #12 and Washington is now ranked at #24.

I would agree though without Alabama shooting themselves in the foot (three times, twice in one play) it would have been a more definitive win for Alabama. Actually as far as stats go, Alabama did dominate the game, but all that counts in the end is the final score. Personally I find VT's wins and losses more impressive than Miami's.72o wrote:I think it will be a good game. VT's only loss is to Alabama, and they gave them fits.

Their chances were superb, if they had run the table. Of course, after that whalloping from FSU I'll never get the chance to see this season. Maybe next year...strike wolf wrote:I think you're right and I hope that they do get their chance some time in the future.Serbia wrote:You know that one year, a team like BYU or Boise State or Utah will end up in the championship game. Next year is still possible. What you really need is a one-loss season for FSU, and have the Seminoles turn out to be fantastic, and ranked top-5 next year. At the same time, BYU needs to run the table this year, get an impressive bowl victory, and then go undefeated next year, then hope for the help (every BCS team with at least one loss). Then you've got a shot.Optimus Prime wrote:Their chances were superb, if they had run the table. Of course, after that whalloping from FSU I'll never get the chance to see this season.
