Possible option on new game

Post by yowzer14 »

Not sure how well this might go, ut how about an option on a new game to limit the joining to only players that have completed say 15 or so games. Might help with deadbeating if they had to have 15 completed games.

Any thoughts?

Noobs want to play too. Everyone would set there games as high as they could but there needs to be someway for them to play. Also, just because they are a noob does not mean they are a deadbeat.

I think we should adress the deadbeating problem differently

i think that instead of making it so that ppl cannot play in a game, we instead punish them for deadbeating. so that if someone deadbeats in a team game, they dont get any points if there team wins, and if they lose, the deadbeater has to take all of the points. if they dead beat they are probably a newb who isnt going to play agian anyway, so they dont care what happens.

Noobs could play, even if everyone set it up as high as they could go, because noobs could make their own games, and other noobs could join those games. I would say more than half of the brand new noobs that I sometimes get in my games Deadbeats. Alot of Newcomers just don't know about the 24 hour thing, and come here thinking all games are RT's

No problem. Always like to have options available on a game. I just thought it might be an idea to help with the deadbeating problem. It's not a solution, just another possibility. I figure that it would allow regulars to set the limit a little higher. Newbies would create their own games and then once they had built up enough games it would open them up to more regular competition. Just some thoughts.

You could have a layered system that only allows you to play one or two ranks above and below you. If there are players who come to the game and are starting out, you don't really want them playing against your top ranking players. Although they might learn a thing a two about the game that way. Also, higher ranking individuals are probably much more 'into' the game, and are less likely to decide the game is not for them, and drop out of games mid-play (deadbeating?). Online games such as Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, use central servers and rank matching play. Hopefully keeping people of equivalent talent and stamina playing with each other. Although in the world of online gaming, theres always exceptions to the rules...

I would start games allowing everyone in so that I could get 5 deadbeats and get like 30 points.
