Sorry about the new game pms. In fact I'm not having much luck filling them anyway, so I wonder if the pm route is the way to go anyway. I'll stick to posting the games here for now.

PM's are definitely the way to go Dan. Please do post them here and PM too.

It can be tough to fill games at certain times, perhaps even certain days! (Sauce-filled Saturday is going to be more fruitful than Miserable Monday!) ... i guess there are peak times when people are online and, even with our 30-40 members, if no one is online you aint going to fill the spots... keep the belief! ;)

Regarding box-bombardment: maybe make 3 or 4 games and do 1 single PM instead of making 4 in quick succession? - You can drop games if you fill one and do not wish to play more than 1 at a time.

For me personally, the convenience of people arranging games for me and being able to get a speedgame when I want it, far outweighs a few extra mails in my box. (don't use George as an example of disgruntled member; in fairness, his mates confirmed that he should be added so it was not even at his request that he was on the list!)

There is not really another way to keep people informed, as not everyone checks the forums all the time they are online. So please do send the mails.
if people want to come off the mail-list they can do immediately if the mails are a problem for them. they still have the password and can join when they like by checking this thread, so we are not losing them .. though i fear they will miss most games.

Saying this, please do remember to use the BCC when adding and avoid sending 'unnecessary' mails if possible.

Blimey, even making a game on this site is filled with strategy! dontcha love it!!
cheers, jim

heh .. i was trying to guilt some lazybones into playing a couple (worked a treat !....;) )

But i have been thinking: Perhaps we should say that all on the list can play unless they fall below Lieutenant?
that way we may be able to fill games a little more readily.

The standard and sanity in the games so far has be very high. All the players on the list have proven themselves skilled by reaching at least 2k and are unlikely to commit Hari-kari in a game, so the arbitrary rank of Major is mainly about point loss. (Provided all hold Major/2k or above when they are included in the list)

Unless i get objections this may be a way forward?
The irony is that those who fluctuate most in score, Lieutenant today and Colonel tomorrow, are quite often the ones most likely to play these games with greater frequency.

Perhaps the higher rankers (those with most points to lose) could add their opinion.
