No it was a war that split a nation and glued it haphazardly back together. I wish I could show a picture of how it was glued back together just to demonstrate the haphazardness of it all but you know.

America emerged in 19th century as the nation for manufactured goods we exported more steel than any other nation. We were the country that got the most out of the Industrial revolution more so than another nation. But just before the 19th century in the 18th century we were completely depended on farm and artisans workforce. How did this large shift happen all in one in a century America went from one of the weakest nations to the one strongest economic if not the strongest countries. If, you were rich you lived in America. This took place because of how we treated our nation at this time we had the highest pride that Americans have ever had in their nation. Also it had to do with the fact that American politics was interested in one goal that one goal would be how can we make more money. American politics at this time was all business and nothing else. Inventions would be the new system that the American politics would throw money at in order for money to grow. The shift form a cultural stand point of the early 18th century would disappear and a new cultural standpoint would emerge this is what facilitated this large from a shift from artisan’s nation to a nation of labors and workers. During this cap of 100 years the corporation was invented. This is in my view the largest contributor to the switch from an artisan to a workers society. A Supreme Court case in 1854 ruled in favor of corporations and this ruling. This would thrust it on a fast track to stardom and the ability to make more money than ever thought possible. That court case allowed for three major advantages to a corporation rather than a personal owned business. One reason that a corporation was better than a personal business it was easier for the corporation to raise capital when it needed it. Instead of going to two or three people asking for 20,000 thousand dollars to start a business up, you could go to 10 people and only ask for 6,000 thousand dollars a lot more doable. The second reason was that however much you invested in the corporation was all you could lose unlike a personal business where you could end up owing more than you invest if it tanks with your money. The last reason is because corporations make contracts. This is saying the if the corporation fault the corporation must pay it. The owners have to pay up to the amount they invested the cooperation is an identity that can sue and can be sued. It is not the owners that are making the contracts. These all lead to the ability to make safer and safer investments than ever thought before and was capable before this time. What was there key to successes if there key for finance was the Supreme Court case the. There structure is another thing that helps out there situation paperwork was largely invented in this timeframe and was the key to a corporation’s success. The corporation would be divided up on how they ran. There would be a profits division, an expanse division, and a supply division all these divisions would only worry about that part of the corporation. In order to really what they were doing they would then summarize there reports up to the very top were the c.e.o would do all the decision making on behave of the corporation. This division of power throughout the corporation was only made possible by the technology advancements that were introduced in the 19th century the telegraph allowed corporations to run efficiently when everything about the corporations could be across a large distance. With this powerful technology it you could send information out much faster pretty much instance between states and regions. Laurie in his book artisans into workers believes that this shift came out a culture change that accorded during the 19th century that was not there before this time. and through this change the American public accepted this new form of running a business and turned to it instead of work for themselves and become artisans before the 19th century in the 18th century there was virtue and commerce this was a constant battle that took place between merchants of this time they agreed that self interest needed to be subordinated sometime for the good of society they saw people living off the state or the labor of others was considered “parasites” they instead revered the yeoman and independent artisan of middling rank. This is idea is what fueled the agent against labors. But the switch that happened was that the people in the 19th century thought was that Americans saw that economic growth as the wellspring for advancement within the ranks of third traditional hierarchy. They saw class as distinction brought on by meddlesome governments. Employers and employees shared similar goals making money they would continue to meet in the middle ground this shift in thought is the key to the corporation successes with the culture behind the mechanical instrument for economic growth. Corporations had to employ a lot of people to keep it running smoothly this is how the culture would come around and move away from a society based on artisans into labor. Cause the demand for labor grew because there was more cooperation. And corporations were the way to make the most for your buck. The government was also involved in adding to this switch. Cause at the time the United States had a government was run by the business whether this is good or bad you can look back and say when all is said and done they turned us into the most commercial country with the strongest economic base for going into the 20th century. There corruption would spill money in large corporations in order to get more money the ruling party in the Wight house was the republicans and the groups that supported them did this for economical reasons farmers got land. Through homestead acts. Veterans gained pensions. And corporations gained large tariffs to keep feign goods expensive and domestic goods cheep. The corporation was getting the benefit of high tariffs so the American population would have to buy from America and keep them getting their profits that they needed the spoil system was a key to the party getting funding . Owners and of large corporations would use all they had in order to keep there businesses making money investing in politics was just another tool for the corporations to use to gain capital. The switch from artisans into a work force that was employed is the key to America’s success in economics to this day. It is the base and strong fundamentals that still have not changed to this day we still think in the 19th century terminology and we do not look to a new way of ideology. America without this switch would not have ended up as the world’s strongest country. This switch is also only accrued here in a since and other places did not catch on. When they did we were already off and running.
