if you don't like the site... simple answer..... piss off

stop wasting our time with these rants of yours, or take them to flame wars.

there are hundreds of complaints just like yours, read them, educate yourself befor posting the same old drool of yesterday.

you have had some positive ideas thrown at you, take them and shut up already.

this thread should be moved to flame wars.

Ahh, the voice of wisdom. Here is the basic administrative attitude, and the reason for the problem. Our complaints are viewed as "boring", and "same old drool" by the folks we give our money to. And now some little twerp is telling me to "piss off" if i don't like it. Well i don't like it and since i've put up my $ i have no intention of pissing off. I'm here to stay for a while junior, and if you don't like it you can piss all over yourself. I will continue to bring up the "same old drool" as it suits my fancy, and while people like you use this forum to blow sunshine up each other's arse, i will be the random thorn in your flesh reminding the rest of us that the emperor has no clothes.

b.k. barunt wrote:If a person is that busy, let him keep down his number of games. For most people you don't need stringent rules - they take their turns out of simple consideration for the other players. Making the rules no armies for missed turns, and 2 missed turns = out, is certainly not harsh.

My problem with this is I have good access to the internet during the working week, but poor to non-existant access during the weekends. As such I alter my game signup to adjust for this, but occasionally a freestyle game doesn't get finished during the week, and I may have to miss one, or possibly two turns over the weekend. If I know that I'm not likely to be availble I will warn the other players to not expect me to be about, but they will still have to wait that 24 hours before they get a second turn.
The number of games is not the issue, its the way the working week is structured.

Similar with Sequential, sometimes because of this, I end up missing a turn or two, and there is nothing I can do to stop this.
If the system was set up to kick out after two missed turns, then it probably wouldn't be worth me playing. I don't miss many turns, but there is always a chance of it on the weekend.

I suppose if its the first two turns of a game, then booting, but not in the middle of a game.

If i had your kind of schedule, i would not get in a game where i knew ahead of time that i would be making people sit around and wait for me. I find this selfish and insensitive. And what good does it do to "warn" them once you're in a game? They're stuck with you! I've driven 7 miles across town to take my 20 minutes of turns, rather than make my opponents wait on me. If you are considerate of your fellow man you don't subject him to your problems. I think that a number of players, after reading your post, will add you to their ignore lists. Thanks for the warning.

thats a bit harsh he did say he tried to avoid iy but sometimes a game does take longer thanexpected especially if their was a real deadbeat from the start

It is a fact of life that players are going to miss a turn now and then. The reasons have been given already - life happens. But if for any reason you miss three turns in a game, you shouldn't expect the rest of the players to suffer (suffer is a slight exaggeration) because you can't make your move? My point is, if you can't make your turns, then you should be able to take the pain of being booted from the game. I know if I missed three turns I would be able to accept the consequence of being booted from the game. After all, I'm an adult and this is just a game. If it happens to you once in a while, what's the big deal. If it happens to you often then maybe you really are a deadbeat and should play computer solitaire instead.

from the start[/quotethats a bit harsh he did say he tried to avoid iy but sometimes a game does take longer thanexpected especially if their was a real deadbeat ] Yea, he makes it sound like he's being thoughtful and reasonable, which makes me sound harsh. But you're not paying attention to the facts. Here's a guy who knows he won't be able to play on the weekend - he knows it ahead of time. Still he elects to get in a game (let's be honest here) HE KNOWS is going to last into the weekend. Am i harsh to call this type of behavior selfish and insensitive?

Sure, its annoying when someone doesn't show. I fully agree with that.
But this is a site for games. Its not the most important thing in peoples lives.

I try and do what I can to not miss turns, and generally it works. But when it is unavoidable, such as a game I hoped to finish before the weekend, that ended up being slow due to the rounds lasting a full 24 hours from other people not playing, I won't be able to get to a computer. At least if I know I can't make it then people know thats a game that they probably won't get turns in more often than once a day.

Are you saying that I shouldn't be on the site at all? Since I know that I'll miss one to two days every 7?
After all, how many games do you know are likely to finish in 5/6 days

Oh and silvanthalas
I thought most of the posts were on the topic you started, and your original question was answered. what is the poll you refer to?

ps
(Have just viewed my list of recent games. in 28 games played/playing I managed to end up missing 1 turn. Granted that may become 3 or 4 by the time I next log on but thats a pretty good ratio in my mind)

Hells bells. Get a life. I don't have one, but even I'm not bored enough to lose my mind. It's the same amount of armys! How many people does it take to figure that out!

How many people does it take to figure out just what was hawkeye's point? But in answer to Adran's question, i wouldn't want to get in a game with you, to be completely honest. These games take long enough as it is.

A shitstorm of deadbeating? Hardly. Is it really that big a deal to wait 24 hours.

Personally I think the benefit to those who sometimes miss turns accidentally outweighs the cost of you occasionally having to wait an extra 24 hours.

qeeee asks "is it really that big a deal to wait 24 hrs?". First of all i have to say that for those of us who play the game this is a moronic question - try a poll on it if you disagree. Second, when i read your name i'm reminded of a scene in the movie "deliverance". But the last part of your priceless bit of wisdom is so lame that it cries out for someone to please kill you in your sleep. We "accidentally" benefit deadbeats when we are forced to wait 24 Hrs.????????????????????????? Who the hell is this feeble minded twit?
