I think that's because the Russians were defending their territory. So the armies which were based in those cities get that name. On the other hand the Germans were attacking in mass. The names should stay as they are in my opinion.
If one holds Bialystok, Lvov and Odessa at once, one gets +3 (or whatever)
Why?
You have the stared territories which simulate where the Russians got their additional troops.
Let's make something similar for the German side.
I could even imagine making most of he countries not belonging to a continent and make a few small continents in the West and East to simulate backing troops. But that might be a too big change to the map at the current stage.
The names of the armies are as near to historically accurate as they should be in a game. Also i still dont like that compass and dont personally feel it needs a compass at all. Also could the title be all the same colour i do not like the effect. Other than that this is very good.

These what i say, germans atack SSSR whith 3 direction, nort-center and south.Germans target its its been Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad.
German forces been 3 army group-Army group nort target Leningrad,Army group Center target Moscow and Army group south target Stalingrad .
Im not create something new names what not be present in 1941.
I complete agree with you compass opinion, i try to find some compass what present ww2 but not find, these not be a problem to remove compass from map.
I agree about the compass. Try to find an old World War II era map that has a compass and use that. If you cannot find it maybe you are better off without the compass and the one you have right now kind of seems out of place (and time!) in this map. Anyway it's just a minor cosmetic detail.
Another minor thing...I would prefer the wording to be Hold all three Red Star territories as the Red Star is synonymous with the Red Army but that's up to you.
Names...shouldn't those two be Lviv and Donetsk?

And also about the border between Dnepropetrovsk and Kursk. Someone have suggested that before: Why don't you just continue a river instead of whose hills/mines images?
And the font. Using a Serif font is generally bad idea. I don't think any of the existing map are using Serif font.
About the compass. Just do a search in Google Images and hindreds will come up.
firstly it was an iron curtain. but that is a minor detail. Qwert is right about the names north south etc.. this is historically correct and does not effect gameplay. There should be no compass because there is not room on the map, the compasss itself is ok i just do not think it needs one at all. i agree with AndrewB about the river and i really think this map is nearly ready.
Again i agree with qwert (read post below this) the font is fine it is readable and not elaborate. I say no font change.

I look for comanders of germans army group in first stage of atack in SSSR maybe to put names of Fieldmarsal insted ARMY GROUP.
Army group north-- Field Marshal Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb
Army group center--Field Marshal Fedor von Bock
Army group south--Field Marshal Karl von Rundstedt.
