It seemed to me to be The Day America Stood Still. Hardly any globalisation in there at all. Damn yanks.
Really? It seems like they could have thrown in Europe for good measure. Though this really doesn't surprise me since it's target audience is mainly inside the US.

He's still making films?
Yes that stupid sounding one with the guy who grows younger instead of older. Okay so it's not a stupid idea and I haven't seen it so I can't randomly claim that it's a bad movie but it has Brad Pitt in it so it has to be bad. Or am I thinking of Ben Affleck movies?

So I'm noticing at the end of the movie that Will Smith has the resources not only to run a fully functional lab and to have heavy metal plating on his windows and doors to protect his house but also bombs. My comment is as follows:
If he had acess to that many resources to that much stuff, how is it that he isn't able to get UV lights to light his house? Wouldn't that alone be enough protection from any of those guys trying to kill him? Maybe it has to do with plot device, but I know that if I'm going to be a military man preparing to stay inside a city full of cannibals who are incapable of withstanding UV rays and I have those kind of resources, the first thing I'm asking for is a shit load of UV emitting lights in case they ever get in.

...and he could carry a UV light around with him. Even a small one like they use to see "secret" zip codes on your bicycle would make the vampires uncomfortable.
IN other news, it's definately the Xmas season, I've started the anuual round of home-made choccies. This is something I've done since around the time we became parents - I make a few pounds of chocolate (more each year, it seems) and give them to friends, neighbours, teachers, favourite retaileres (the comic shop guy, the local pub, etc...unfortunately the jazz bar has gone under since last year). Today the curlette's school gives the Teacher Apppreciation lunch, so they've got a boxfull, tomorrow it's the curlson's school's turn.

It gets worse when Klaatu asks who Kathy Bates is: "I am the Secretary of Defense for the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"
Jeez-la-wheez! As if we didn't get the message beforehand....

You do realize that not only is this amount excessive but it's so excessive that you will probably be laughed right out of court? I'd recommend coming back with a more reasonable amount before actually trying to sue me.
