Well. For me it all depends on the league scoring system. If you award 6 for winner, 5 for second (as in the original proposal), somebody winning 3 games could still score lower than somebody winning no game at all. And that´s kind of ridiculous, no ?
I really like 6-player Escalating games, but awarding points for the runner-ups seems questionable to me. Being eliminated first or last, you lose. If you introduce points for runner-ups, you risk changing the nature / character of the game.
I concede, that it might make sense in order to avoid ties at the end of the season, but then points could be awarded in a way, that even 1 win will already score more than 5 times coming second.
I expect, that ties (5 players winning 1 game each, or 2 players winning 2 each) might be a problem anyway. I´m not sure, if the order of eliminations should decide the outcome of a season in such a case, but then I don´t have a better suggestion either.
And please don´t get me wrong: I like the idea and am really interested.
