I think this map is named after the region called New England on the USA map but I agree with this. We have West, Southwest, Southeast. Let's not further a mistake (calling something 'New England' when it includes territories called Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey on both the USA map and this one) by keeping a name purely because of how it appears on a different map.
R0k0v wrote:A new England map would go into detail and provide New England Flair. New England may be small but there are multiple regions to each of the states. The Berkshires are completely different than the Boston Area, The South Shore Islands and cape would also be different. My Idea for a new England map would not only incorporate the states as regions but split up the states. If you publish a New England map like that it will ruin it for New England maps that are better.

New England freeway bonus. +6
you already get the Rhode Island bonus of 1. You have 4 capitals so you're killing other's chances of getting that bonus as well as being close to getting it yourself. You can hold it with 5 border territories but most likely will do it with 7.
The other freeway bonus doesn't have nearly as many benefits. It goes in the middle of a bunch of stuff rather than around/on the edges.
+6 is really +7 with the Rhode Island. Seems fair to me since it's 10 territories.

to add further to the colour talk on that map, these are too bright and fluorescent. the other ones were a bit more dull and more fitting for the different areas.

Just to let you know, the name will stay.
At the very beginning of this project I set the goals and purpose.
These 6 maps will be maps based on the bonus regions of the USA map we currently have. Therefore, they will be named after them as well.
The Great Lakes map is not really a great Lakes map. There are many states that would NOT be associated with the Great Lakes in there. But the name stays because it is the bonus region name on the USA map. The Rockies map is another example. Many of the states there are PLAINS states. But, since there is not a PLAINS bonus region in the USA map, the names stays.
Now I am not trying to be difficult for the sake of it. I am actually not trying to be difficult at all. I am sticking to my goals that I set at the beginning. If this was a problem then, why did someone not say anything?
BTW I am the carto that did the other Great lakes map on this site. I do not feel that the new one I do, will take anything away from the old one. They have two different purposes and two different audiences. Just as a different New England map (if someone wishes to create it in the future) would have a different purpose/GP/audience.

I think North East is a better name, and that if you arent going to be completely accurate to the USA map, you might as well just change the name.

Not really. I said the maps were based on the bonus regions of the USA map. I never said that they were based on the same number of states. I added more of the states to the Great lakes region as well.Kaplowitz wrote:WidowMakers wrote:At the very beginning of this project I set the goals and purpose.

Well by that logic, there should only be 4 continents on that map--one of them being New EnglandI think North East is a better name, and that if you arent going to be completely accurate to the USA map, you might as well just change the name.

Correct. The USA maps I will be making are based off of the grouped bonus regions in the current USA map. Those regions represent the lower 48 contiguous states of the USA.yeti_c wrote:Yeah - USA has 42 countries (cos it's almost a copy of classic) whereas there are more actual states than that?

Yes. Once the icons are set, we will move to background images and color tweaking. Then once I get GP badges and GFX badges, I will make the Large images and XML.wcaclimbing wrote:are southeast and northeast going to have an image in the background, like the others?
