OK... 8th-grade math lesson...

You said 12 out of 30 is "practically 50%".

.40 x 30 = 12

.50 x 30 = 15

15-12 = 3

3 / 15 = 20%

You're off by 20%. You don't get to count it out of 100%. You calculate it relative to the target number, i.e., 15.

Watch and learn. ;-)
