Just look at the list of members, click each name one by one, and copy the URL for each avatar you see. Don't have to see the forum.

Is that Satan- herself? Wonder if the other half looks as good.
About the issue of hostility...this is a game of war. But if I'm not having fun, I don't want to play. The operative word at this site is "game." Chess was mentioned earlier, I have witnessed some creative displays of angst displayed after losing a game. Chess is personal, RISK or in this case, CC, involves many different variables. Dice, teammates, missed turns, etc... There is an aggressive nature to this game. Emotions run high. You have 70 yr olds playing 13 yr olds, and that is not known at the beginning of the game....only to realize later... Yes there are malcontents here, childish hooligans, pompous donkey-farts, and a lot of really cool righteous people. If you really read the Flame Wars...some of it brings tears to my eyes from it's hilarity. Most the time I just shake my head. I have foe'd noone but if certain players want to play I remove myself from the game. Not many do I remove myself from, because this is just a game and really fun and exciting to be a part of. I read much of the hostility with tongue in cheek. |Most these people blasting each other could easily be having a drink together watching the game, and having a blast. Sorry I ramble, my point is that at CC the attitude is if you can't handle pressure then peace. Take Care. I have noticed though, that when the iguana hits the fan the powers that be are doing everything to fix it. I don't see hostility... you have to read through it... there is a lot of solidarity here... cooperation... teamwork... and concern(on-line concern)hehe if you see hostility ignore those induhviduals if you see hostility...maybe it is humor disguised
ok I'll shut up now

On the question of hostility, I would be interested in knowing what you consider hostile. As a face-to-face gamer for decades, there is a certain level of gamesmanship, and chatter that I expect, especially in a game like this one. I suspect younger players, and those without over-the-table experience might think of this chatter as hostile. (I know that I have run into people who go off, when they think my chatter is serious. Now they are hostile!)
Is it possible that it is the good natured bumptiousness of a competitive game that you see as hostile, when it is in fact friendly? Or is it the more serious anger that I personally have seen only rarely, and immediately add to my ignore list. (Or whatever they call it now.)
To tell you the truth, I suspect this 'sensitivity' that some players have to genuine game-chat, that has turned most of my competitors into mimes, mutes and moots. Sad to say, because without the social aspect, you might as well play the computer, in my opinion.
I think it is the old farts that can't handle the pressure. Most of the young people I see gaming here are experienced gamers, used to winning and losing and full of humor, usually multi tasking and not even remembering the game 10 seconds after it is over.
no bro...some of these "old Farts" are the coolest most righteous people we have. If you perceive hostility in the forum....stop reading. If you perceive hostility in the game...don't play with amateurs. If you perceive hostility everywhere...maybe you need a sense of humor. If hostility is everywhere...look in the mirror.

Hmmmm old farts can not multi task you young whipper snapper. I win -I lose -And I have fun doing both.
I said nothing about hostility. I am just putting in a good word for the younger players, stating that, in my experience, they are a fun lot to play against.

Re: MPJH - I think there is a bit of a generation gap between the younger and older players, and their style of chatter that is easily taken for hostility. I notice among my friends teens who game on line that the level of profanity that is considered 'fun' is much higher then in my generation. I suspect the intent is the same, but it is perceived differently. I suspect that the way us old fogies chatter must have some equally annoying aspect to it for the younger players, it's just hard to see, from my perspective.

You and your capitalization, punctuation, and complete sentences... it's a disgrace to the English language.

I don't think we've have had an on topic post since Piestar's post near the top of this page ... Anything else to be said on topic or should I lock this one out?
