I have no idea how this has evolved, but I know it started when I had a terrible run at the end of '07 and went from a Captain to a Private 1st class and never seemed to manage a single good dice roll (it was then I started the No Dice games thread in sugs and bugs). At this time, I found by waiting for a minute after the deployment, the attacks didn't seem to go so badly. The rest of the process....well I don't know, but then I am the man who only ever backs 5/8/11 and 26/29/32 on the roulette table because I think they are luckier for me!
Another 'odd' thing I do, if the attack is vital and close, is stare very intently and grit my teeth when the dice are rolling on the screen in the vain hope that by concentrating on the screen I will, somehow, have an effect on the result....
Lastly, if about to commit to a large assault, I will set my troops, then leave the room, go and make a Pot of English Tea (and biccis, normally hobnobs or some such, natch) set it all up in a particular way on the tray, take it back to my Study, pour the first cup, stir slowly, take the first bite of my bicci then sit down and start the assault. If the assault is particularly long, I always then take a Cigar from the Humidor on my desk, light it slowly (mid assault) and continue.
Oddly, since I started these weird and wonderful procedures, my score has risen from 1047 to its present 2950, so I ain't about to stop them, even though my mathematical and utterly logical brain is screaming out to me that I am completely off my trolley!
