Getting back to Professor Dingleberry in the video, I *think* he's talking hyperbole here. I can't seriously think any rational person would call for the extermination of an entire race. I guess that's why I find it funny.

well... there was alot of things. the compromise of 1850. browns raid on that warehouse. that case where the slave owner moved up north, took his slave (i think it was douglas) then decided to go south, and the slave said no. they took it to the courts... all the way up to the supreme court and they ruled slaves arent people. but slavery was the biggest

Also it was state power, versus federal power. With the virginia and kentucky resolutions and Jackson's presidency states became more bold and felt they had power than the central government (in case you dont' remember this is why the articles of confederation failed)
