In FOW Games...

Post by Soloman »

Those who are eliminated whould be blocked from chat because sadly enough there are quite a few who in retalitation to there demise announce your position at a time you are particualy vulnerable. I know that is not illiegal nor against the rules to announce but it is extremely cheap and even worse when the person is not a active participant any longer...I know this has to be a source of frustration for more then just me...

I disagree. If people want to expose that information, then that's their right. Is it kinda dickish? Sure. But everyone has their own cross to bear when it comes to etiquette.

Besides, blocking them from game chat would accomplish nothing, as if they were bound and determined to expose your position, then they'd just PM everyone else in the game. And blocking PMs between players in games has already been shown to be monstrously impractical.

I disagree again the blocking of Pm's between those in standard games 2gether would limit the secret alliance issues that can plage the site, thos I know it would not eliminate them since there are many mediums of contacts nowadays but again it would retard it. The silencing of those that have been eliminated in fog of war would eliminate a really poor sportsman act of last FU to the person whom eliminates them and add a level of fairness and honor back to the game..

The blocking of PMs between players is a poor idea. First, you cannot block mods from sending PMs to anyone on the site. That means that any games that mods are in can still fall into this trap. Also, what if two people from the same clan were playing a doubles sequential game together, but were also playing a singles 8 player game within their clan. You would essentially be shutting down communication between a doubles team and also an entire clan.

Some sacrifices come with new innovations when the idea of FOW was introduced I doubt many people thought about the ways players would abuse it, the concept was refreshing and innovative and added a new dynamic of play but now that there is an abuse there should be some wway to balance it and as I said there are many mediums of communication including forums where clans could discuss issues.

As far as Mods I would hope anyone with the abilities of a moderator would have a higher degree of integrity and not be as petty as to devulge location just because they were eliminated. To be honest tho the simplest solution would to make fog of war game site only and disable chat with this temptation to divulge location be less due to the extra effort involved in it. But again this is just a rant about the lack of integrity and possible solutions to resolve it...

Time to weigh in: It's fine. Win in a way that the other guy doesn't have sour grapes. If you suicide and get lucky, then your asking for it. And from what your saying, being "vulnerable", it sounds like you slice the salami pretty thin in your take-outs....

Its also been discussed before here... http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45789#p1186384

NOpe just we were the 1st to meet in a fog of war everone else built up I had two castles to defend and after my position on a fuedal was given away in a freestyle battle my 40 armies meant nothing as others had larger forces built up that had not fought a large army already. So the person I I smashed decisively and took there cards gave my position up and I never got a chance to cash nor collect as I was snitched out of my postions in freestyle...

Blocking eliminated players from posting in game chat in FoW games: bad idea.
Blocking PMs between players in ANY game: horrific appalling terrible idea.

Solo, you're way too paranoid. If people want to make a secret alliance (and that would be MAYBE 2% of the population, and that's a large estimate), they'll figure out a way, yet you want to make life inestimably more difficult for the 98% of people on the site that play straight. That is insane.

Forgot to mention. What if I am playing in a game with Natewolfman, or some other tournament organizer, and I am also in a tournament run by that player? Can I not get invited to my tournament game since I am playing against him? Are we then going to say, that two people playing in a game cannot both be in live chat at the same time? You know they could create a private chat room and talk there. Or, get this, people could send a PM to a third party who then sends it on to someone involved in a game. Are we going to block all communication between people completely. How about this new proposed rule... "When you are involved in a game on CC, you cannot have any contact with anyone. No exception. We do not want anyone forming secret alliances and this is the best way to accomplish the goal."

as I previously stated there are various other mediums of communication the eliminations of PM's between people who are active oppositions in games would limit abuse in the forms of secret alliance and revealing location in FOW. ANd the elimination of chat in FOW games would also serve to limiting abuse and unsportsmanlike conduct in those games, cheater will always find a way, as far as tournie games check the tourney forum simple stuff...

the only thing that is worse than this, is a player that sets up 3 player singles games and has his brother join the games so they can team up on the 3rd player and sets up multi accounts and pretends its his wife. You know anyone that does that? you got balls to complain about this when you are a cheater yourself.

to me it goes against the spirit of the option and is something that the petty do with the new feedback system(which I will love when implemented) it will be hard to warn about an individual like this and other may actually reward there petty treachery, I really feel something should be done to deter it IE the no open chat in these game(of course teamate could chat) and even more extreme a possibilty no PM's between those in active FOW as opponents...
