what's a clan?

for real. i read about how to start one in the FAQ but still no idea what the purpose is.

i expect to get flamed for asking. or to get a bunch of "Stachewhackers Rule!" and crap like that. but maybe someone will also explain it.

Mainly to have a group of friends with whom you like playing and can be assured of the kind of play you want, eg, no allying, etc.

XI has about 40 or so members - we all share passwords of our private games so there is plenty of opportunity to play with folk of the same ilk.....
