ok, ive taken most of your comments away, sorry if ive missed some - just suggest it again or call me stupid.
ive worked on the terit names and colours mostly:
[bigimg]http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll234/t--o--m/madagascar-20thmayteritnamesre-done.png[/bigimg]

now Rj, as i said i don't really like black (well on this anyway) so i just changed the colours to corrospond to their conts. and added a 2px stroke around them that is slightly lighter than the cont and text colour.
got rid of the purple, swaped the green from he middle into mahajanga which is now green - i did that because i thought that a blue cont with blue sea wouldnt look v good, and it didnt lol.

anyway, comments most welcome as always...

good catch on the 22 territories, Rj... you should be the new Gameplay CA! ;) 22 would make for some frustrating games with a lot of unnecessary neutrals to start the game.

i think the yellow cont is fine as it is, its only a small map.
i think that Toliara will be 4, and Mahajanga will be 3 still depending on where i poition the terit (i.e whether i put it ajacent to another cont or not)

It might be worthwhile to shrink the "Impassables" hang down...jus so it is not so close to touching the game board...or move the game slightly toward the legend, whatever is easier to do.

Also, regarding the "Impassables" text, perhaps consider making it yellow like your title and name.

Lastly, the way the rope is attached to the title looks odd...it doesn't seem anchored on.

thanks andy,

yeh ive not spent time on the ropes AT ALL! litterally i just placed them, theyre the originals from the original title..immpassables need shrinking yes. i'll do that.
any comments on the mountains?
the actual title background and legend?
bonuses?
im also thinking of shortening Alaotra-Mangoro (in orange cont) down to "A.M" and put it at teh bottom, so its more readable and tidyer.

does anyone else have any other comments on gameplay? (bad points?)
and other graphics (this is what needs working on)
*comments on graphics other than the immpassables is what i need*

also have i spelt immpassables rightly?

i think the light blue colour in the center of the map (Antananarivo) is weird. it looks like a lake in the middle of the island. i like the original green better

for such a small map, I still find it a bit difficult to follow the borders... you've got light borders, darker borders, pointy and flat mountains for borders, and - um - shrubbery for borders. ;) Many of the borders have text on them as well - hard to tell if the mountains span the entire border between Betsiboka and Alaotra-Mangoro. Things could be simplified.

Bonuses will need reworking now that you've added territories... or example you now give +4 for 5 terits with 3 borders, +2 for 4 terits with 3 borders. From a classic standpoint I think the only region that warrants a +4 is Fianarantsoa.

And while you're working, note that your light source isn't consistent.

A little feedback:

- You have it typoed ImMpassable, drop the extra M.
- The length of territory names is killing the appeal of the map for me. The map is completely ridiculous with 5, 6, 7 syllable names all over it. Please find shorter names that are still accurate to the region.
- The mountains impassable looks even worse now, or are you no longer going for mountains?

This map is getting worse rather than better!! The mini legend was perfect how it was orginally.

Impassables are looking poo like and the countries badly need some texture

Got your PM about mountains, but it's easier just to say it here since I was going to comment anyway.

Whatever you did to the legend and the title and the board-slabs, undo it immediately. It looks like shit now, but it was great before. You know, when it was kind of whittled-wood-looking, like someone carved it with a pocket-knife. I liked that. Change it back. :)

The sea looks really bad. Awful. It's even a bad colour now. The brighter one was much better.

I think the secret that you haven't learned yet is this:

Bevel = Bad

And about mountains: Nice mountains can be achieved easily by finding two contrasting colours of the same general shade, one dark and one light. Pick a large fuzzy airbrush (at least 30 pixels) and paint a strip of the dark, then on the same layer paint another strip of the light one next to it. Then resize the brush to be at most 1/5th of you original large brush and draw in subsidiary peaks and mountain jags. Be sure to use the dark colour in the light area and the light colour in the dark area for contrast. Now apply a plastic wrap filter and play with the detail, smoothness, and highlight strength. Add an underlayer to blend them into the map and vips! Mountains. If you want sharper mountains, add a few sharpen masks afterwards, but do not achieve it by having higher highlight strength in the plastic wrap as it will just look slimy then.
Reputation cleared. :) Never let it be said that Team CC don't investigate fairly.
Although they take bloody forever to do it...
