is there a way you could have the rivers extend naturally, and place bridges where you want access allowed? they look kinda goofy starting and stopping in the middle of the country

i could look into that.. .the problem would be the same as mts.. I'm having a hard time finding graphics..

You could ask another map maker to give you their's.

For my map's rivers, i just had a layer of water under the land, I erased the land where I wanted a river, and there it was, no graphic needed. As for bridges and mountains, imho, no fancy artwork is needed, only something enough to get the point across

And as much as I agree iwth that.. it really doesnt quite work that way with my map IMO...

I agree with not needing fancy artwork for the mountains but it seems everyone here has been pushing for mountain graphics while I dont like it.

It is your map, sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. I remember several people objected to names on my map, like French Canada, but sometimes the mapmaker knows best (sounds way too motivational, but o well)

Ok, well, here are my thoughts..

after talking to dublin he's inspired me to not be such a people pleaser and to rely on myself a bit..

That said unless its almost a majority against them I'm keeping the mountains.. they get the point across and in my opinion do look quite mountainy...

Also I like dublins suggestion about rivers and bridges and that will come with the next update...

As for sister continents I actually like how that worked out and am thinking that a one bonus is in order for holding the two sister continents..

Are there any other comments about anything? Playability aesthetic(so far).. or is it pretty much done and should I start working on a background..

Bring forward suggestions/comments on anything with the map.

The river thing refers to the awkward cutting off of them..

Orange= Alps

Red= Languedoc

Green= Centre

Brown= Burgandy

Aqua= Brittany

Purple= Picardy

The rivers are great.

Yes, maybe that got lost in what we were talkin about, having them cut up like that is awkard, i'd say just continue the river and draw a bridge over. The bridge can be a simple black line or artwork, whichever you prefer.

I dont like too much of the twin continents... Anyway, I would like at least a big continent...

The main problem, however, is that you dont have space enough to place numbers in some territories like haut Rein and Pais de Calais.

And we should discuss the bonuses... 7 countries and 5 borders, 7 is too much. And maybe you miscounted, looks like purple has 2 borders only.

What will be the surrounding areas?

Where would you suggest the big continent be... I had 2 big continents in the middle and you said that having them in the middle would be not good because people woulodnt have incentive to go in there...

I will work on spacial issues when I get to putting army shadows which should be coming soon barring any playability issues.

Maybe 6 for the middle countries.. I believe you may be right.. or does anyone have a good simple formula to use..(how do you pick bonuses marv?) You are correct I did miscount there are only 2 borders for purple.

What surrounding areas?

Dont really like any of the changes uve made, the background isnt that pretty neither is the key.

I think Pyranees should be worth more then the Alps, not only does it have 1 more territory but it also has Creuse which I can see becoming one of the most important territories of the game, because it is so central and other routes are too long winded. Pyranees also borders 3 continents, Alps only 2.

Hmmm, the french flag... couldnt we have another background?
Why is that region called Centre? Its not in the Center, and looks like it would be the real intention. And I think you could change its bonus to 5.
There is a border over the mountains.
About the circles, I dont know if the colours are good. But you can replace some. Pais de Calais is ridiculously over Nord. You should move "de Calais" to west, and put the circle inside the territory. In some areas, you should place names and circles more carefully. Like in Ardennes... no need of the circle over the border, you simply can put the name a bit to the north.

I could go with changing the pyranees to more than alps.. but that would sort of hurt my sister continents thing.. oh well it wasnt that great anyways.

I actually like my french flag background, but If populuar demand which is 2 out of the 2 posting after wants me to change it I could.. I think it looks good.. I rather liked my key but again if popular demand wants me to change it I will... like marv with the phillipines map. The region is called centre because a map I found had it labeled that way and I think it has something to do with paris etc.. I didn't like the circles color terribly much, but I just dont really know how to make a good color circle so thats what I came up with... and I can work on the placement of them..
