Well write it off as semantics but you asked why high ranked players are afraid to play each other. I don't have to prove that they only play each other to show that you are wrong. I need only show that they often do play each other.

I am not disputing the fact that many feast upon lower ranked players in team games. Perhaps some of these players do so to the complete exclusion of ever playing other high ranked players. Mind you, if I had to guess, most likely both mine for points in these sorts of games as well as play other high ranking players in private games (well at least I hope they would). Also understand that I've made it rather clear I think this sort of mining is pretty lame.

None the less, all you needed to do to end this argument was admit that you failed to take into account the many games in which high ranked players do play one another and back off this generalization (that you claim you are not one to make). Now you're trying to make like I'm kicking a dead horse here. However, the horse wasn't dead because you kept trying to defend your point.

I didn't fail to take those into account because I wasn't talking about those games.

And...it's a lot easier to end this argument than trying to appease your masochistic need to feel right, actually.

OK, now I understand. You were asking why high ranked players aren't playing each other in games that they're not playing each other.

Sorry, I must have misunderstood your post.

In that case, I don't really know why. You are 100% correct. That's a strange phenomenon indeed. Why just the other day I was asking my wife why she never slept. She looked at me strangely and reminded me that she slept about 8 hours every night. Of course, she was dead wrong because I was actually talking about the other 16 hours of the day.

Of course, she's so stubborn. She kept on insisting that she did, in fact sleep every night and refused to accept the fact that she also is awake a bunch as proof that she never sleeps. Some people, eh?

lol - that is one of the stupidest things I've ever read...

That's like saying there are no people called Smith living in the US, and when being introduced to several people called Smith, saying "Oh, I meant that apart from people called Smith there is no-one called Smith living in the US".

Sounds like there is one person here who has a need to be right and it isn't detlef... there's only one person in this thread who has ignored bags of evidence which contradicts his opinion and stubbornly refuses to recognise the truth. As I said previously, feel free to check my games list - how many games do you see against high rankers and how many against low rankers?

It's a shame you are too arrogant to realise you formed too hasty an opinion and admit that you are wrong.

Not sure why you guys want to beat this into the ground...

"Man...truck drivers really slow down traffic!"

Someone might say that as they are stuck behind a semi on a two lane road going 45 mph in a 50 mph zone. But they are probably wise enough to realize that not every truck driver is this way.

You two have a very poor grasp on logic.

In any case...if you go to game 1969553 ... I was told by a higher rank that other high ranks were afraid to challenge him. Hence...it got me wondering. Then I began to notice what I originally posted.

And now you two are fixated on this 'all' thing. You, for whatever reason, want that to be what I intended. You missed the point...entirely.

Let it go.

Seriously.

We'll let it go as soon as you admit you're freaking wrong.

You're forming your opinion based on some shit talking that somebody did in game chat and the fact that you can't find high ranked public games. That's some pretty freaking shoddy research considering that literally 100s of thousands of games have been played pitting high ranking players against one another. That's a far freaking cry from us fixating on the "all" part of your statement. A far freaking cry from pointing to the one truck that happens to be driving fast to disprove your latest lame analogy.

The simple fact is that high ranking players play so many games against other high ranking players, nearly to the exclusion of playing low ranking players that threads bitching about this fact happen at least 10 to 1 to yours. Actually 10 to 1 is charitable because I don't ever recall seeing a thread bitch about the fact that high ranking players won't play each other before this and ones complaining about the opposite happen about once a week.

This is not about us fixating on semantics. This is not about a poor grasp of logic. This is about somebody talking out of his ass and refusing to simply admit that he was completely wrong and going away. It's really that simple.

detlef...I'm just going to agree to disagree with you.

As for you guys are having trouble with people saying they can't find a game against higher ranks...tell them about the "Game Finder" option. Tell them to search for some open team games and this is what they will find:

Image

Image

They can't find any high ranks to play? There is 12 pages of this returned by 'Game Finder' option. 10 games started by a high rank and a couple of his friends...then 10 more games started by a different high rank and a couple of his buds....then 10 more...

Etc etc...on and on...for pages on end.

Games against high ranks are plentiful. Nobody should have trouble finding these games.

FWIW, I would imagine those who complain about not being able to get a piece of high ranking players are not looking to join team games with random players and get slaughtered by well practiced established team of Cpts or better.

Those who complain about higher ranks avoiding lower tiered players are doing so with regard to the alleged paucity of higher ranked players starting or joining public singles games.
