No it's fucking shame that some wankers on this site can't control their bloody language. Bunch of cunts the lot of them...Bolbs wrote:Considering I started this thread to try and reduce the bad language on this , I think it is disgraceful that it has resorted to this.
I think this is actually the point which you're missing... why should we scrape and bow to your different ideas? I don't feel like being censored so that my language appears in a fashion that you would better appreciate, and neither does anybody else.Bolbs wrote:Without wishing to repeat myself, we ALL have different ideas on what we think should and should not be allowed on this site. This is probably because we have all been brought up differently in different cultures.
Then perhaps you shouldn't be letting them on CC...Bolbs wrote:Me, I would not want any of my children exposed to reading anything that is x-rated on the Internet.
God forbid you could just read the site's guidelines before you played a game eh? That'd have done the trick, it really does give you all the warning you (fucking) need.Bolbs wrote:Films have different ratings so not to expose children to certain language. This site would clearly be an 18, but you would have no way of knowing this until your child had already been sworn at.
Perhaps that's because those boring people make up a tiny minority of the population here, and because the majority is quite wedded to the idea of free uncensored speech. For the most part, we're all adults here, and we don't feel like being censored to conform to the expectations of a fragile language-sensitive minority, or in the fictitious interests of children whose parents are too naive to think they don't already know foul language.Bolbs wrote:As it stands, all those ppl who are quite happy to start cursing, as they have on this thread, are being allowed to do so. However, NO consideration is being taken for any individuals who are easily offended such swearing or any children that go on this site.
Well you see... you already have that. The button is in the top right hand corner of your screen. It's red, and it has an X shape on it. Press it once, and all the bad language can be gone for good.Bolbs wrote:All I want is this to be addressed. A simple option in the profile to turn off bad language would solve the problem.

You have tried to censor my motherfucking language in this thread, you have ignored my wishes of keeping free speech alive in these forums. That shows a total lack of respect.Bolbs wrote:Thank you for completely ignoring my wishes of keeping this thread clean. That shows a total lack of respect.
No you have failed to grasp the fucking simple concept that what I am asking is not to have my language censored as it appears on other motherfucker's screens.Bolbs wrote:You also failed to grasp the simple concept that what I am asking would not make any difference to you or anyone else who chooses to use vulgar language to express themselves.
Nope, makes a difference to me because I know that I can't make you cry by saying 'twat' every now and then. Please try harder to comprehend other's posts before talking rubbish next time.Bolbs wrote:By making it an option you can simply turn it on or off, you would have the choice. Understand? The only difference it would make is to ppl like me, who is offended by such language like you have just used, but that doesn't seem to matter to you.
So far you've failed to point out any, I'd say it's pretty early for you to be getting tired...Bolbs wrote:I cannot be bothered to point out the other "simple" flaws in you argument.
I am hereby asking you rudely, please do not post on this thread if you are unable to deal with the language permitted by this site in its official guidelines. If you feel the urge to cry about it, go to some under 7's forum or a strict religious forum and harp on about it there with all of your fellow hand-wringers.Bolbs wrote:I am therefore asking you politely, please do not post on this thread if you are unable to control your language. If you feel the urge, go to flame wars with all your friends.

Bolbs wrote:I guess I am never going to get through to you so I will no longer try. You are a lost cause. Good luck in prison.
At least one good thing has come of me starting this thread. I have found some1 who is completely disrespectful, foul mouthed and clearly has no moral standings. The reason I am so glad is that I'm can add this moron to my ignore list so I will never have the misfortune listening to any of his vulgar language againI suggest that others follow suit.
If any1 else who read this uses similar language then pls can you add me to your ignore list.
Seeing as I will no longer know what profanities will follow this, all ask is for you to try not to embarrass yourself too much.
Just as a reminder, this is a game and therefore it is supposed to be fun.
The1exile wrote:Hate to threadjack (but I'll follow Twill's example) - could you define "abuse" in the context it's used in that previous post, so I can begin to comprehend the scenarios in which uber-twill is going to protect over 20,000 users from taking offence at something or other?

Twill wrote:I have a few ideas in my head for voluntary user-based censoring, but that still has some design issues and then has to be coded.

We shouldn’t be telling anyone else what is right for his or her child, only the parent can decide that. Me, I would not want any of my children exposed to reading anything that is x-rated on the Internet. Yes, children know the swear words, it is impossible to protect them from that. What you should be able to do though is protect them from it being used in an aggressive manner towards them.

True, some people like to rattle others people cages, and some take it quite a bit far, sometimes crossing the border of accepted behaviour. However, proliferating certain ideas usually serve to anger others. Some on this site take offence to anybody who advocates general censorship. You should have taken that into account after the first few posts as well.Bolbs wrote:As it stands, all those ppl who are quite happy to start cursing, as they have on this thread, are being allowed to do so.
