Rating anyone?

I am curious as to what players consider valid reasons for negatively rating their fellow players. Obviously, there are the clear-cut cases. They curse, abuse profanities, miss turns etc.

But in a 2 player game, what justifies truly rating someone poorly? For instance I played this game with a player named [player]Darthvadar[/player]:

We played about 3 consecutive rounds. Then attacks began.

09: 21: 24 - I began attacking neutrals. I waited for him to deploy because I had a few seconds to afford to wait and wasn't in a rush to move and leave like I normally have to do when I visit CC.

09:21:27 - Darthvadar deployed 17 troops on Rhit

09:21:28 - KristenAmazon assaulted Rhit from Qasr and conquered it from Darthvadar

09:21:31 - KristenAmazon assaulted Aoria from Rhit and conquered it from Darthvadar

09:21:32 - Darthvadar ended the turn

17 09:21:41 - Darthvadar: cheap ass bitch

It was pretty funny but we had a good game going until then. He moved when he could, I moved when I could and there are no hard feelings if you can't play realtime games - afterall, you started a game for 24 hours right? I felt that that kind of chat was unwarranted.

So I wanted to see who here if you guys feel that it is justified to rate someone poorly if this scenario ensues:

a) Player 1 moves.
b) Player 2 moves
c) Player 1 moves again.
d) Player 2 moves again.
e) Player one has to leave and therefore does not move until they can return.
f) When they return and move, player 2 is not online (unfortunately) and so they do not get to deploy forces while player 1 makes their attack.


So really, the question is: Is it really "Cheap play" to only play the game casually? I played another game against player Brzl with a very similar issue. We deployed, we played, back and forth we moved and expanded. I came back later to move again and realized that he had taken the North America bonus. I busted his bonus and ripped it apart. As a result, he got about 5-7 less troops to work with as of his next deployment in order to respond to me.

What do you guys think? Where do you draw the fine line between "Casual play" and "Cheap play"?

If you take a bonus and your opponent isn't moving, do you automatically assume they are "intentionally waiting" for you to leave? Do you have a habit of demanding realtime games when you set up 24 hour play?

But, due to the fact that your post happened to be on Spark Notes, I think it's because some people get testy when they lose an online game?

'Cuz I remember seeing this thread by owenator that talked about Darthvadar and I looked at the game chat and he couldn't get over the fact that he lost. I think.

I'm pretty sure the only way to be cheap is by modding the dice, which I currently am doing. Everytime I roll I get 4! Count 'em: 4! 6's.

On a more serious note though, I think I have more of a life than to play real time games, or care if someone is playing "cheaply". Then again, if I'm not on CC or at classes, I'm more than likely wasting my life away playing Nazi Zombies.

Oh lol, I'll be the first to admit, not everything I do outside of Conquerclub is especially necessities in life but I like to do other things that I can do just for the sake of enjoyment. I do conquerclub for enjoyment sure but paintball, debating, movies and dinner with that special someone. I really like it all. So I can't be playing so many realtime games just because people want to do it lol.

Haha I know. And even though I haven't been cyber-harassed by any crazy people yet, I'm sure that if I did, I'd just completely ignore them. I'm sure they can wait a maximum of 24 hours, and if they can't...then...erm...tell them to draw a fractal?

i've been called a cheap player sometimes; the one time I did deserve it was when I purposely suicide'd on a player so that another player would win the game.

But the most recent time I was called cheap was when I, and i quote, "as you made sure i was'nt going to last the next round anyway , i just made sure you were'nt the one getting my spoils cards to win the game". You read it right; i made sure he wasn't going to win the game, so i could get his cards. I was called a bully, and a very mean person. Even though that's kinda the point of the game. :\ Well, he suicided into me, so I left him negative feedback for the very thing I did many months before.

I generally avoid leaving neg feedback, unless the player is a complete jerk.

There's a reason they're called casual games.... if some one wants to play real time they should drop a line in callouts for that or play speed,.. Can't fault you for not playing realtime when you have to go do something else (people get upset over the funniest things). just foe if you don't want to get it again from darth...
