What about a map based on the internet in its early days, such as this from Feb 1982:

ARPANET would reset to 1 neutral every turn, or something like that, and maybe people would start on routers (the rectangles) and get bonuses for holding everything branching off of a router?
Any comments/concerns? Does anyone think this'd be a fun map to play? Obviously I'd improve the graphics above and beyond a simple black and white drawing, but I'd keep the theme pretty retro.

Ehhh, lots of dead ends.... If you could maybe find some metaphores to put in it as extra territs...
Or, here's an idea. You have two layers, the Internet then, and the Internet now... You can lino everything to it's future version, or something...
I can't really think of a good way to do this so there won't be huge gameplay issues.... Hmmm,
