Roses 2009 (winner: danryan)

Post by Tupence »

Welcome to the Roses 2009!

Every year, two British universities (Lancaster and York) battle it out over a weekend of sport, with points awarded to the winning side for each event. This huge event (the biggest of its kind in Europe) is called Roses, named after the brutal Wars of the Roses between the Houses of Lancaster and York in the 1400s.

This tournament will be as close to the event as possible, with a mix of Singles, Doubles, Triples and Quads games. Your opponents and team-mates will all be randomly assigned using random.org.

PREMIUM PLAYERS ONLY PLEASE! And if you have a lot of people on your foe list it would make things REALLY complicated, so minimal foe lists please.

For winning each game you will be awarded either 1, 2 or 4 points. Between Phases the groups will be shuffled around, and at the end of each Stage the lowest scoring players will be eliminated. Please see the tournament structure below for more details. At the end of the tournament the player with the most points overall will be declared the winner!

Please note: All games will have a limit of 35 rounds. Any games that take longer than this will be declared void and no points will be awarded.

A different map is assigned for each event of the Roses weekend, some have quite obvious reasons as to why I picked them, others are either not so obvious or just because I fancied it!

Here's how the tournament will go:

Important Tournament Notice

The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.

thanks for the invite, but i am not a fan of foggy games (but i play them) nor am i big on team play (but i would play it), but i do not like no spoils, and now it's 3 strikes and i am out.
please keep me in mind for other tournaments. i do like the concept and would have joined under different circumstances.
(by the way, i have played no spoils and might have joined if it was a 1 vs.1 no spoils.)
good luck with this tournament.
