Discworld: The first "cult map"

Post by Georgerx7di »

Does everyone hate disc world. Is it in that stage that styx was in before the movie big daddy? Is disc world as popular as... I don't know ... Buck Rodgers is right now? There must be a few odd balls like me who still like the map. So I wonder, will this become a cult thing, where there forms a special league or clan that only plays disc world? Will it be CC's first cult map?

Not sure if I'm being overly dramatic. I like the map, always have; but when I tell people they gawk ( in an online text type of gawk, but I'm sure that they're gawking). Does anyone else still like this map? Everyone I talk to hates it. So, anyone out there who still plays it? Comments?

It's actually a map I enjoy...probably because I remember when it was first in production. :) Perhaps we can catch a game on it sometime.

It's one of my favorite maps, actually.
I don't know why people would dislike it.

What do people usually look for in a map?

I think everyone has maps they like and maps they dislike. It also changes over time. This is one reason it is nice to have the variety that we do. If you don't like a map.. don't play it.

(but I would suggest not deciding until you give it a "fair shake" .. one or two games are not enough to know, not really)

Me? I don't particularly like Discworld, but I don't hate it, either. I like Crossword. And I played it a lot to begin with because, being that it is less popular, I was better able to specialize, find a "niche", and win while I built skills.

People dislike Discworld? Why, its seems fairly innocuous. There are maps that people either like or hate like Crossword, Conquerman or Waterloo but I'm surprised to find Discworld in that grouping.

I'm inclined to agree with you here.

I have no qualms about playing discworld. I haven't played it that extensively but as far as I'm concerned it is a good fun map to play. Conquer man on the other hand I haven't dared touch as of date, only played it when sitting someone before and wasn't enjoyable. I also tend to avoid the rail maps and the 'conquest' ones like Age of Realms Series and Feudal War but thats mainly because I suck at them.

I would have thought the original was the first ...uh make that the "classic" maps :?

Since that no longer applies, seems Doodle would fit... but anyone got the stats?

my first game ever was on crossword....and was a resounding victory. I think all the other teams deadbeated, and me and my partner won.
